Kielbasa Skillet Stew

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2008
I thought this was ok. It was a nice way to cook kielbasa. There was a spice that was overpowering in it either the thyme or a spice in the Italian seasoning. I think I would use different spice if I did it again. It was an economical meal and tasted fine, just nothing spectacular. Thanks for sharing.

Moroccan Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
I really enjoyed this recipe. It was very flavorfull. I didn't know what crushed tomatoes were and I used tomatoe sauce and served over rice. The chickpeas I dumped the whole can in and they were a little much, but what do you do with half a can? I will make this again for sure. I can think of many possibilities with this tofu instead of chicken or just the chick peas for the protein. Thanks for sharing.

Fabulous Wet Burritos

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
This is a good recipe and easy to make. A lot of the reviewers are saying they used tomatoe sauce, but the recipe calls for tomatoe soup- either way I didn't use either. I used a can of green enchilado sauce instead (28oz) I probably could have gotten by with the smaller can. I also subbed black beans for refried just a personal perference. Other than that I kept it all the same. My kids enjoyed it and it was a good way to use ground beef. It also came together very fast. I also skipped the nuking and put it in the oven until the cheese melted and the sauce was bubbling. Thanks for sharing.

Baked Beans, Texas Ranger

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
These were good, but were a little sweet for my taste. I made the recipe as follows except I did not use the hot sausage and I only used one T of chili powder because mine is fresh and spicey. I used 2 cans of beans and drained the one can, but I wish I had drained both. I think it ends up soupy because the lid is kept on the beans the entire cooking time. Next time I make these I will cut the brown sugar down to 1/4 C, drain both cans of beans and take the lid off the last 15 minutes of cooking that should allow the beans to thicken up a bit. Thanks for sharing.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2008
I liked this recipe. It was easy and tasty. I did not change a thing, but I did put them in the freezer for about 15 minutes before putting them on the grill. I did not think they were spicey, but I took all the ribs and seeds out of the pepper. I didn't bother with securing them with tooth picks and I didn't have any issues with leakage or unwrapping, but I tucked the bacon in as I was wrapping. I also was able to do these a day ahead which is a bonus in my book. Thanks for sharing this recipe I will be making this again.

Spicy Basil Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2008
I really liked this one. My DH said he could only taste the black pepper. I only did 1 T of chili oil and 1 hot pepper because I have kids. Next time I would put the 2 T's in and cut back on the black pepper a little to maybe half. I used green onion instead of white because of a personal preference and I would have added a lot more basil to the dish. I will make this again thanks for sharing.

Thai Style Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2008
This has a beautiful light flavor to it. My first thought was like some other reviewers that it needed a little more spice, but then I remembered that a lot of thai dishes are light and not bold. This is a wonderful summer dish and easy to make. I didn't think the sauce was to thin I served it over rice and it was great. I will make this again. Thanks for the recipe.

Thai Sweet Sticky Rice With Mango (Khao Neeo Mamuang)

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2008
This was interesting, but I have never had this so I have no point of reference to go by. I had some leftover rice and since it called for cooked rice (not instant) I thought I could use it, but mine was really soupy even after it cooled down. I had to reheat it to evaporate some of the liquid. I also didn't have tapioca starch, but thought I could sub corn starch, but maybe you can't? My second sauce got really thick. The taste was good and I liked the contrast with the mango. I'm going to order this the next time I do thai to see how close it is. Thanks for sharing.

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2008
I liked this, but I can see where some folks got a weird texture going on. The first time I tried the noodles they had a very starchy texture to them. I added more water and continued cooking. I had to do this a total of 3 times to get the noodles to be the consistancy I wanted them to be. I agree with some of the other reviewers that putting cooked noodles in at the last minute might fix this problem. The flavor is spot on and it is a hearty meal and a good way to stretch a lb of ground beef. Thanks, bestcooker for sharing.

Greek Pork Cutlets

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2008
I have to tell you I was a little disapointed in this dish. First, the marinade? Was it? With only 2T of lemon juice and the rest solid ingrediants I could hardly call it that. I kept thinking the pork was going to add some juice. Second the seasoning. While I think there is a good base here my meat needed a lot more salt and pepper. This might be a better recipe with more spice, but the way it is written NO! The yogurt sauce was OK....I would cut down on the yogurt maybe to 1/4 Cup and add a lot more flavor to this. Not bad, but not great. Thanks for sharing I love to try new recipes.

Black Bean and Corn Quesadillas

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2008
**Update** I'm adding a star and changing my review because I needed dinner in a pinch the other night and I was able to whip this up. You know what? It was pretty tastey for a meal on the fly. I thought this was good, but I thought it was more of a lunch type recipe than dinner. I'm not sure I would make again.

Shrimp Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2008
This was edible, but it was not like fried rice that I have ordered before. I thought there was to much rice for the rest of the ingrediants. Maybe I used the wrong rice, but mine was really moist. I wonder if I had made the rice a day before it would have been better. It was filling and made a HUGE portion, but I don't think I'll make it again. Thanks for sharing.

Very, very good flavor. Sort of more of a thai flavor to it. A little lemon grass might be interesting with this. This will now be my go to recipe. Easy to make. I have all the ingrediants always in the house. All around great recipe. Thanks for sharing.
