I am sorta (read, I am) a Facebook junkie.  It has been fun to connect with old friends (I mean really old like from the 60's)  One of the things I get a kick out of is taking all the stupid quizes and fun surveys on there. Quizes like:  What movie star would play you in a movie?- haven't done this one yet,  What Brady Bunch character are you?- Marcia, of course!.  The latest one I took was What are your favorite smells? It occured to me after I completed it that most of them were food related.  My favorites:  Coffee- the beans or brewed ummm, lemons, ginger- my absolute favorite smell and I like to eat it too!, rain and lilacs.  What are some of your favorite smells?

Ripe peaches! Mmmmmmm. :) Freshly-brewed coffee, rain and lilacs figure in there, too. And the smell of bread or pizza baking in the oven.

I love stupid quizzes and fun surveys! Lilacs! And I like coffee, whether it's brewed or just the coffee beans. The ocean (when we're at a nice clean beach, as opposed to a busy harbor!) I also love the smell of cloves, my daughter's hair and horses. (Those last two smell NOTHING like each other!) ;)

Oh, Deborah, I absolutely love the peaches from Frogs Hollow. They taste and smell like a peach should. I ask for a box every year on my birthday...yum! I like the clean briny smell of the beach too, Christine. Pineapple is a good one too.

A baby's breath. The real deal and not after they just puked up their formula! Sweet smelling sweet babies.

Oh, you know the usual rain, trees, coffee, lemons, lemon dishsoap, basement smell, bleach, vanilla, nail polish, gasoline, chlorine and rubbing alcohol.

About Me
I love to cook and have often thought I should have gone to culinary school. My biggest cooking influence is my mother she is really a good cook, but I look up to my brother who has never used a recipe in his life....he cooks by taste; a little of this and that and it is always amazing. I cook almost every night for my family. My true passion is entertaining. I secretly want to be Martha Stewart...he he!!
My favorite things to cook
I like good soup and hearty meals. I also love to come across a good apetizer recipe. I recently purchased a bread machine and have really enjoyed using it. I'm not baking so much now that my daughter is doing a lot of it around here.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baklava every Christmas. It looks like you spent all day in the kitchen, but it is a snap! My dad made stuffing every holiday. It is still the best I have ever tasted with apples and raisons. YUMMY!
My cooking triumphs
I will try anything, once! I made that italian dish they always talk about on Everybody Loves Raymond. It was time consuming, but interesting to make. I always say if you can follow a recipe you can be a good cook. Teaching my daughter the love of cooking and baking. When I'm out of town she actually gets a hot meal on the table and can even make home made bread. I'm so proud of her. She will be making all the pies for Thanksgiving dinner this year.
My cooking tragedies
The biggest one is a recipe for brussel sprouts that you steamed than cooked in a jelly of some sort. I didn't think I was steaming them long enough. They were raw! Very dissapointing side dish to a Thanksgiving meal!
