About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
Anything with beef. I love making all types of beef dishes. Stir-fry, stews, baked, broiled. Especially if it's a one pot meal. I'm busy busy busy so one pot meals are essential to me.
My favorite family cooking traditions
When I was younger my family was known for having big get togethers, where all of my aunts and uncle would come gather and make a huge meal. I use to love the times spent with my family eating the meals they prepared and laughing about silly stuff. We don't do that enough these days.
My cooking triumphs
Making my first traditional Thanksgiving dinner with my boyfriend was a huge triumph for me. The fact that it actually came out tasting good was a bonus.
My cooking tragedies
I used salt instead of sugar in a cake one time. Tragic but typical if you're not paying attention.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya
So tasty. This was soo tasty. I took the advice of other commentors and left out the juice for my diced tomatoes. It still came out a bit too liquidy so I added a tbsp of constartch and water mixture just before adding my shrimp.

Country Fried Steak and Milk Gravy
This was my first time making country fried steak on my own and I think it came out pretty tasty. I ended up adding too much salt, so next time I will reduce the amount of extra seasoning. All in all good recipe.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I
Really nice recipe. My boyfriend and I enjoyed it. The only thing I changed was I tossed the meat in the flour mixture and browned it. Then I deglazed the pan w/ beef broth, worteshire sauce, and one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. I also kept my tempture on high for 3 hrs and then finished it off on slow. The meat was tender and well seasoned. Thanks!
