About this Cook
I am 31 y/o and have 3 boys. They are 11, 7 and 3 and love to eat. They can be a little picky and that is one reason that I love allrecipes so much. I can find just about anything on here. I am married to the military, my husband is active duty and is southern to the core. But I like to spice things up with our meals by adding some of my favorites. I grew up with country style food and have had a lot of other influences from a polish grandfather and lebanese grandmother. I lived my first 24 years in Detroit and have tasted every corner of the earth. Needless to say I love different kinds of food.
My favorite things to cook
I absolutely love cooking from scratch meals. My favorite thing to make is probably anything with chocolate. I have a serious sweet tooth. I also love to try new things to impress my husband and to spread my wings. I would love to be able to entertain guests with an absolutely fabulous menu that will keep them coming back for more. I have to say that my husband can make a mean cheese cake.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Breakfast has always been a big deal at home in Michigan. Going to grandmas for home made biscuits and gravy seriously showed our southern sides. Fried chicken was another favorite of my grandmas along with her family famous home made chocolate cake and chocolate icing with coffee added.
My cooking triumphs
Every Thanksgiving when my turkey comes out just the way I planned it is a HUGE triumph for me. This year however, I tried a new recipe from my favorite morning radio station and it was magnificent.
My cooking tragedies
The first and only time I made a pecan pie, I cut into it and the insides oozed out. I have been to devastated to try since.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup
This was so awesome, my husband and I absolutely loved it. It went great with a bad of tortilla strips. I wouldn't change anything but cutting back on the corn, too much for my taste.

Puppy Chow
I love this stuff, my kids love it, and the kids I worked with love it. My husband and I have experimented with adding extra PB, power sugar and even adding cocoa power for a dark chocolate effect. I posted a picture to show how mine turned out.

Grandma's Polish Perogies
This is almost how my polish and lebanese grand parents make theirs. It was great, however, if you do not want to freeze them, you can fry/saute them on the stove with a little butter or olive oil. I like mine with fresh cut onion slices. I also recommend using a fork to press the edges, it looks much nicer and creates a better seal.
