About this Cook
I've been married for 34 years to a great guy who is so easy to cook for and has been my taste tester for all these years. We have been blessed with two beautiful grown daughters, a great son-in-law and one very special grandson. My mother was an excellent cook and I learned a lot from her. Likewise, my daughters enjoy cooking, too.
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy cooking just about anything. I love to bake -- my pies are very well received. I like to put on large dinners for guests, however, the older I get, the harder that is! But, I do enjoy making things from scratch.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter are big cooking traditions in my house. Pies are my forte...apple, blueberry, pumpkin, etc. For years I have made a chestnut stuffing at Thanksgiving that I thought everyone enjoyed (but dealing with those chestnuts is a pain)...last year I opted to make life easier and make my mother's recipe for stuffing. My family went crazy over it and THEN I found out that they hadn't really been too crazy about the chestnut stuffing...so much for tradition!
My cooking triumphs
My mother taught me how to make homemade pie crust...something that a lot of women in my generation do not do. When my daughter was in Germany for a college semester, she asked me to email her directions as to how to make an apple pie including the crust. So, I wrote out those instructions in a very detailed fashion -- her pie turned out perfect! My other daughter, now, also makes her own pie crust. So, my biggest triumph is passing this ability down to another generation.
My cooking tragedies
Tuna Spaghetti comes to mind as a tragedy! My husband will eat anything I put in front of him and act like it is gourmet -- but not when I made tuna spaghetti. Even the dog wouldn't eat it. It was really bad.

Croutons
Great basic recipe and very easy. I used very dense bakery wheat bread cut up into cubes with crust and placed in large bowl. I melted 1/2 cup butter, poured over bread crumbs and tossed. I also added Kirkland's (Costco) Rustic Tuscany Seasoning to taste. Baked as recipe said and....yummy!

Soft Oatmeal Cookies
These cookies are the best! I can see these quickly becoming a family favorite! I divided the dough and baked some with butterscotch chips added and some without. Both are outstanding! Next time I'll try chocolate chips, dried cranberries and/or nuts just for fun.

White Bean and Lamb Soup
Love this soup -- both hearty and delicious! The only thing I changed is that I used a couple of cans of great northern beans rather than going through the trouble of using dried beans. Oh -- I also used 2 lbs of lamb but that's not necessary.
