Tomato and Mozzarella Bites

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I served these as one of my appetizers for Easter dinner. The presentation was absolutely beautiful and the taste was out of this world! I used the marinated mozzarella cheese from Trader Joe's which gave such a nice taste to the recipe. I also served the balsamic vinegar/olive oil on the side as a dipping sauce. I will be serving this recipe again and again and again. YUM!

Cheesy Pork Chops with Spicy Apples

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Pretty good pork chops! I used blue cheese brie and added diced granny smith apple, shallots, and dried sage to the brie. Then I cut a pocket in the pork chop and stuffed in the cheese mixture. The combination of apple, cheese, and pork was delicious!

Pasta Melanzana

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
OMG! DELICIOUS! I did not sweat the eggplant and it came out perfectly fine. I used the entire 1 lb. box of farfalle pasta so my dish was a bit short on sauce. So next time I'm going to double the sauce. Oh yes! There WILL be a next time. My husband raved about this dish, helping himself to seconds. Thanks for such a wonderful recipe, Spearl20. Can't wait for the leftovers!

Crunchy Tuna Turnovers

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
What a clever way to serve tuna sandwiches. I used jumbo buttermilk bisquits and rolled the turnovers in crushed cornflakes instead of potato chips since so many reviewers said the chips made it too salty. The cornflakes added the perfect crunch. Next time I might add some chopped pickles in the tuna or a sprinkle of curry powder for a kick. But this was so easy to make and very versatile - - you could make all kinds of turnovers by changing the filling!

Slow Cooker Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2009
WOW! If you love buffalo chicken sandwiches or buffalo wings, then this is the recipe for you! I used Frank's Red Hot Sauce for the wing sauce and yes, I'll admit, it was spicy. But we tamed the heat by adding some crumbled blue cheese on top of the sandwich which melted perfectly into the spicy chicken meat. This was SO simple to making using the crockpot. Thanks for the recipe, it was delish!

Shish Tawook Marinated Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
This was absolutely wonderful! I've never cooked Turkish food before but if this recipe is any indication, I will again, and soon! I served the chicken over rice and along side garlic Naan bread. The dipping sauce was scrumptious, and very garlicky. Be Forewarned: This recipe is for garlic lovers! And that certainly is my husband and I. He was licking the bowl with the dipping sauce! YUMMY!

Filet Mignon with Rich Balsamic Glaze

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
OMG, you MUST make this recipe! I made this for my wonderful husband for Valentine's Day dinner. The filet mignon just melted in your mouth. (My filet mignon was a bit larger than the 4 oz. steaks mentioned in the recipe, so I had to cook mine a smidge longer to get to medium rare.) The sauce was to die for! (I also doubled that to work with the larger steaks.) This recipe is a keeper and was PERFECT for a romantic dinner. I'd highly recommend this recipe!!

Yakisoba Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2009
This chicken stir-fry dish was quite good! I replaced the onion with scallions and added snow peas just because I had them. Love the crunch of the bok choy in the dish. Next time, I'll add water chestnuts and sprouts too, just for an added kick. Very tasty!

Asian Orange Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2009
***** I would give this 10 stars if I could!! It was absolutely the most delicious Orange Chicken I have ever had - - even better than my local Chinese restaurant. Since I had an orange for the zest, I simply used the freshly squeezed juice from the orange for the sauce and it tasted so fresh and delicious. Yes, the sauce is sweet, but that's what makes it Orange Chicken! I served it with snow peas and bean sprouts - - a perfect meal. Thank you so much, Harry. This is an absolutely wonderful recipe!

Pork and Shrimp Pancit

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2009
This is my first time cooking Filipino and WOW, was it ever delicious!! And healthy too! I didn't have any pork so I just made mine with shrimp. I loved the subtleness of the oyster sauce - - such a nice change from your typical soy sauce flavoring. The red pepper flakes gave it just a hint of spiciness which was perfect! This one is going to be on our table again and again. Thanks, Rayna!

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
This was such an easy and delicious side dish to my Chicken Kiev tonight. I tasted it before I added the parmesan cheese and I could have eaten the orzo just in the buttery chicken broth sauce, to be honest. It was also delicious with the parmesan cheese and basil. But it's nice to know that should you not have the parm or the basil, you can make a fabulous side dish with just the orzo, butter, and chicken stock. Excellent!

Chutney Baked Brie

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2008
I'd give this more stars if I could! This was FANTASTIC! I followed the recipe to a "T" and wouldn't change a thing. The hot mango chutney complimented the creaminess of the brie perfectly. This recipe is absolutely a keeper! Thanks, Hillary - - great recipe.

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
I brought this over to my family's for Christmas and it was a HUGE hit. I had no problem shaping into a ball and rolling in the nuts. It looked exactly like a cheeseball - - my sister-in-law was very surprised it was sweet and not cheesy! Very popular with the kids. Served it with mini 'nilla wafers and honey graham cracker sticks.

Divine Hard-Boiled Eggs

Seems my original review was "edited". This is exactly how a certain celebrity cooks her eggs on her daily show and it never fails - - the shells come right off with no trouble.

Spicy Baked Sweet Potato Fries

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
Fries that are actually healthy for you - - go figure! I baked mine on a rake inside my baking sheet at 400 degrees for 35 minutes, flipping 1/2 way. OK, so they weren't super crispy, but they were not mushy either. We didn't get too much of the taco seasoning taste so next time, I would add a pinch more. Delicious.

Banana Cream Pie III

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2008
I'd give this 3 stars, my husband would give it 5 stars, so I compromised at ****. I used one box of vanilla pudding and one box of banana pudding per other reviewers' suggestions. I also mashed one banana in with the puddings. So the taste is extremely "banana-y" which the hubby LOVED. However, my pie never set up - - it was very soupy. You could not serve a 'piece' of this, it was more like a scoop of pudding and pie crust.

Creamy Spinach Tortellini

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
This was very good; however, I should have used some modifications from the others who already reviewed this. There is way too much cream cheese in this recipe - - next time I would use 4 oz. instead of 8 oz. I used a bit more milk, too, to thin the sauce. And you absolutely must add minced garlic and freshly grated nutmeg to the sauce for extra flavor. We'll have this again, just with some changes.

Chicken with Mushrooms, Prosciutto, and Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2008
WOW, this recipe is AMAZING! This is absolutely company worthy, trust me. I didn't salt the chicken since the proscuitto is salty to begin with and I did add a pinch of garlic powder to the cream sauce. Otherwise, I wouldn't change a thing! Tiffuhny, outstanding recipe! Thanks for sharing it with us.
