Slow-Cooked German Short Ribs

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2012
OMG, these were outstanding! Three different people stopped over my house today and all three of them were raving about how good my house smelled! I followed the recipe to a T until the end. I removed the meat and bones from the sauce and then started the thickening process. I removed the bones (which wasn't hard to do since the meat fell right off of them) then added the meat back into the thickened sauce. These are fantastic served over mashed potatoes. Hubby went back for thirds - - we have a winner. Thanks for a wonderful recipe, Peg13!

Ultimate Party Meatballs

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2012
Appetizers don't get much easier than this one!!!! I used a 1.4 lb. of pre-cooked cocktail meatballs to the can of jellied cranberry sauce and the bottle of chili sauce. It was the perfect proportion. I also used a 2.5 quart crockpot to heat the sauce and meatballs. These things were flying out of the crockpot - - everyone loved them. Don't let the unusual combination of ingredients scare you. These are delish!!!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

OUTSTANDING!!! I didn't change a thing on this recipe and it was absolutely delicious. Company worthy, for sure. The sauce was wonderful over steamed broccoli, too. My husband couldn't stop talking about the sauce. I'll be making this one again. Thanks for a superb recipe, Behr!!

Laura's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
This turkey chili was absolutely wonderful! I made a few changes based on other reviews. I used a can of no salt added tomato sauce and a can of fire roasted diced tomatoes. I also added some frozen corn. I used a can of chili beans and a can of great northern beans. I love the fact that this is rather healthy, as far as chili goes. A dollop of light sour cream on mine and some sour cream and shredded Mexican cheese on my husband's and dinner was served! Thanks for sharing your recipe with us.

Jalapeno Popper Pizza

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2011
This was a very unique and tasty pizza. The jalapeños sure had some heat to them! I also used 1/2 Mexican blend cheese and 1/2 cheddar cheese, just because it was what I had in the fridge. I'd probably skip the breadcrumb mixture on top the next time I make this. My husband wasn't a big fan of it, and neither was I, to be honest. Thanks for sharing your recipe, CookinBug

Peach Pork Picante

This was SO simple and tasty. I used apricot preserves because that is what I had, and it was delicious. I also used boneless pork chops which I cubed. Served this over rice with veggies.

Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2011
This was real comfort food. Just what we needed after a LONG day of raking and bagging leaves. I think I would have preferred it to be a bit thicker, so next time I'll add more of a corn starch slurry. But other than that, it was perfect and I didn't change a thing from the original recipe. I used low-sodium chicken broth, and it tasted just fine. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Christina. It was delicious!

Outrageous Warm Chicken Nacho Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2011
This recipe is worthy of 10 stars! I brought it to a girls' night out and it was a huge hit with the ladies. I can only imagine how much the men would love it, too. I only used 1/2 cup of the black beans. It had a little "zing" to it, but not too much. I kept it warm in my 2 qt. crockpot - - that was the perfect size. Served it with tortilla scoops. YUM YUM! Thanks for sharing your recipe, Nandabear.

Green Grog

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2011
I have mixed feelings on this beverage. I agree with what others wrote that it is super sweet, yet also a bit sour from the lemonade/limeade. Over ice, it reminded me of a margarita a little bit. But because it is so super sweet, I can't see most adults drinking more than one of these. That said, leave the rum out of the punch and this would be perfect for little kids. Thanks for sharing a cool drink recipe - especially for Halloween or St. Patrick's Day.

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
Mine never set up like "cheesecake" at all. It turned out more like pumpkin pie than cheesecake. But it was still very, very good. And it's a great Go-To recipe since most people would have the ingredients in their fridge/pantry during the Fall. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Agnes.

I really enjoyed this sangria recipe. We like our sangria a bit more sweet, so I just added more honey to the pitcher. Thanks for sharing your husband's recipe, Cathy. It was yummy!

Bread and Celery Stuffing

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
This is the recipe that my Mom used. She always bought Wonder Stuffing bread which is made and sold at grocery stores over the holidays. We use one stick of butter for every loaf used. We also use low-sodium chicken broth since we are adding salt & pepper to the dish. This dish is a classic at Thanksgiving and we all fight over the leftovers!

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2011
My husband grilled a 6 lb. whole chicken on the outdoor grill using the rotisserie. I applied this rub about 10 hours prior to grilling. The chicken turned out perfectly! We loved the seasonings from this rub. I'm not too sure how the word "Sticky" got in the title, though. Next time, I'm going to add some cajun seasoning we bought in New Orleans for some added heat. Thanks for sharing your recipe, Sue. Delicious!

Miso and Soy Chilean Sea Bass

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2011
This is the 2nd time I've used a miso paste glaze on fish and it is spectacular. I thought this sauce was a tad too sweet, but my husband disagreed and loved it with the brown sugar. I'll probably put in a smidge less next time. I only had cod but it was a suitable replacement for the sea bass. Delicious. Thanks for the recipe, Swest.

Ice Cream Sandwich Desserts

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2011
OMG, desserts don't come much easier than this. My husband took a couple of bites and said "Ummm, why haven't you made this before?" I used 24 ice cream sandwiches in my 9X13 dish. The ice cream sandwiches were rather small and I had to cut a few in half lengthwise and widthwise to make them all fit. I sprinkled heath bar crumbles too, along with the salted peanuts. And after plating, I drizzled more hot fudge sauce and caramel sauce. I let mine sit out for about 30 minutes, and it was still nice and cold. My parents and husband were very surprised to hear that the dish was made with ice cream sandwiches. A super easy, tasty dessert. Thanks for sharing, Jody!

Festive Tossed Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2011
This salad was a HUGE hit with my parents and husband on Father's Day. They would have been happy just having this salad for their dinner. I used a combination of baby spinach and baby greens. The salad dressing really made the dish. Thanks for a winning recipe, Kate.

Pesto Tomatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2011
These were super yummy. I took the advice of others and added just a sprinkle of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the pesto before adding the parmesan. The mozzarella helped "bind" everything. I used vine-ripened small tomatoes and their size was perfect. A melon-baller made scooping out the tomatoes a snap. I then let them drain on a paper towel so they wouldn't get mushy. They took about 15 minutes in the oven - - give or take. This was a nice compliment to my Father's Day dinner. Thanks, lovedody!

Ginger Glazed Mahi Mahi

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
We loved the ginger glaze for the mahi mahi. Yes, it comes out very dark, almost black, but that is to be expected when dealing with soy sauce and balsamic vinegar. It's absolutely delicious and would be great on chicken and pork too. I baked the fish at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Super yummy! Thanks for a great recipe, Decodiana.

Mojo Roast Chicken (Pollo Asado)

Reviewed: May 26, 2011
I guess I was expecting much more flavor from the marinade than what I got. Don't get me wrong, the chicken was tender and moist, but I just didn't taste much in the way of seasonings. Next time, I'll probably add some more cumin and maybe some smoked paprika or hot sauce for some zing. Thanks, Karmicflower.
