My family 2007
About this Cook
I have five teenagers and one husband...all living at home for one more year! We live on a cattle ranch, so we eat lots of beef! I love to find new ways to cook beef. Also, with five kids we go through a lot of food at each meal. I cook in large pots every day! With a big family, in a very small town, we do not eat out much, so I enjoy cooking good meals for everyone to enjoy.
My favorite things to cook
The kids love my spaghetti and lasagne, but my favorite is steak. We have created our own special beef rub seasoning. I use it on all meats.
My favorite family cooking traditions
The biggest tradition for us is at Thanksgiving we do not have a large turkey...that's the competing protein....so we have a very small turkey and a very large prime rib roast. Delicious!
My cooking triumphs
Triumphs? Well, I suppose merely cooking for this large family. I enjoy using the grill and I once made steaks and all the fixings for 26 at Easter.
My cooking tragedies
Sometimes it seems that nothing goes right and I am totally unable to cook a good meal. But no one complains, as that means that they either don't get fed or they are the designated cook next time.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup
I have made this soup with ground beef, too! Easy and Delicious! The crock pot just makes it easy to assemble ahead and leave it to heat. I don't toast the tortillas, we like to cut them into strips and add them to the soup like noodles. Great quick recipe! Thanks!

Ham and Cheese Puffs
Excellent! The mustard "makes" this recipe! I don't use the onion, though.
