This makes 2 huge, FANTASTIC loaves of bread. It is SO moist and flavorful. I make is exactly according to the recipe.

Daddy's Dang Banana Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
I have tried SO many banana bread recipes and after a couple of days you practically have to dip your piece into your milk because it's so dry! This STAYS unbelievably moist. I use the caramel frosting from this website to frost it, then heat up a piece for a few seconds in the microwave and top it with vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert. It makes a really big loaf, so I make a mini loaf before pouring the rest of the batter into the big loaf pan. This is truly the best banana bread recipe that I've ever found.

Chocolate Rasberry Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2009
Holy cow...these are to DIE for! They're really not as much of a hassle as you would think (I use the big Ghirardelli chips and lay them out evenly) ...just some layering. They have such a perfect combination of flavors so that none of them overpower the others. Definitely cut them into small squares...like 1 or 2 bites each. They freeze REALLY well, so they're perfect for holiday baking. I recommend letting them come to room temperature for the best flavor!

Margarita Cake

Reviewed: May 13, 2009
I used the Jose Cuervo mini margaritas everywhere it called for separate margarita ingredients...I also followed many of the other reviewer's advice and used yellow cake mix, replaced the oil with applesauce, and made 2 seperate batches of the icing with one of them only using half of the liquid ingredients. When the cake came out of the oven, I poke holes in it and drizzled half of the thin batch of icing on it. I let it cool for about 10 minutes, then turned it onto a plate and poured the other half of the icing on...I waited about a half hour before drizzling the thicker icing on. SOOOO GOOD!! Doesn't taste too "alcohol-y" or sweet, believe it or not.

Blueberry Cream Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
These are GOOD if you use the reviews before you start. Maybe next time I will just make the recipe as stated just to see what it's like... All that I had on hand was bread flour, so the muffins were nice and "sturdy". I also did half white and half brown sugar, added cinnamon, and I'm pretty sure I used more than 2 cups of blueberries (frozen). I made mini muffins because I don't have a regular muffin tin and I have muffins coming out of my ears! Oh, I'm always trying to add protein to my recipes and GREEK YOGURT is a fantastic way to do it. I substituted non-fat plain greek yogurt for the sour cream which tastes exactly the same, but is much better for you. ;-)

Easy Alfredo Sauce II

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2009
I was really rooting for it because of all of the great reviews and it just doesn't get any easier... It needed a LOT of salt. I tried adding a little nutmeg and even some Old Bay seasoning to give this some flavor, but it never happened. There's another recipe that's similar but uses some garlic salt. Maybe I'll try that.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
These were very mediocre. I even added the extra spices to the batter (1/4 tsp of nutmeg, 1/2 tsp cinnamon). I wasn't impressed with the streusel either. It was REALLY grainy. If I make something similar again, I will use the streusel from the Blueberry Coffee Cake I recipe on this site.

Connie's Zucchini 'Crab' Cakes

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
Super tasty!! I was so paranoid about them being soggy that I think I rang out the zucchini too much. Next time I won't try to get so much moisture out of it and I'll make the patties bigger. I did them on an olive oil basted cookie sheet in the oven. If you put ketchup on them, they actually taste seafoody!

Imitation Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
This is a great starter recipe. Next time I'm going to add a ton more veggies and seasoning. Next time I will be dicing garlic and celery for this, plus I will add some season salt or something. If you don't mess with the recipe, you get a bland meatloaf. I'll definitely be making this again, I will just be adding a lot more.

Jen's Heavenly Egg Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2009
This was very "meh". First of all, that cooking method for hard boiled eggs never works for me. I even boiled the eggs for 5 minutes before removing them from the heat and the yolks were still bright yellow and yucky. The lemon juice was weird and the overall taste was barely mediocre.

Soba with Toasted Sesame Seed Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
I would have given this 3 stars, but my 7 year old daughter RAVED. This definitely needs to sit for an hour or so at room temp to let the flavors meld. It's missing a layer of flavor like some others suggested. I added a grated carrot and julienne cucumber at the end. I think next time I'll make the peanut sauce from the Satay Chicken from this site, leave it a little thin, then add about a half-cup to the sauce. It's still pretty good cold the next day.

Garlic Spread

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2008
This was SOOO good! I'm a huge fan of garlic, so I added an extra small clove and it was still super good. I used another reviewers advice and made it the night before to let the flavors meld. It was a hit!

Tzatziki Sauce II

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
I saved a ton of time and effort by just starting off with Greek yogurt. I used Trader Joe's 0% fat Greek yogurt. I was in a rush and just ended up dicing one clove of garlic...it was perfect the next day and my 6 year old told me that the combination of garlic naan (an Indian flatbread that I toasted in the toaster oven) and this tzatziki was the best dinner ever. Who knew.

Corned Beef and Cabbage

Yummy! I made this for St. Paddy's day for all of my friends before we went out. I had to split it between 2 smaller crock pots and I grated a granny smith apple into each one. It was such a hit that my friends bought the ingredients so that I can make it again a week later!

Creamy Hot Cocoa

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
I combine this recipe with the "Moscow Hot Chocolate" recipe for a GREAT winter warm up. I don't add the half and half, it doesn't need it...you could use fat free half and half if you're as horrified as I am by the fat content...

Moscow Hot Chocolate

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
We used the "Creamy Hot Cocoa" from this website (minus the half and half). Make sure that you remember that a shot is 2 ounces, so you're putting a half a shot of each...some people think a shot is 1oz. Also, make sure your mug is big enough or the booze can be overpowering. The TASTE is out of this world. ;-)

Irish Lamb Stew

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
I pretty much followed the recipe exactly except that I scaled it down added a bottle of Guiness as some other reviewers suggested. I can see how people might really like this, but the flavor was way too strong for us. We had to put a dollop of sour cream to take the sharp edges off and my daughter tasted it and actually spit it out and almost started crying.

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
We used these as our Thanksgiving potatoes this year. I made them the day of, but made them early in the day so that the flavors had time to mingle. They were very dry, but the flavor was PERFECT with the awesome sausage, apple, and cranberry stuffing, Maple roast turkey and gravy from this site. It topped our layered Thanksgiving leftover Hash wonderfully!

Seven Layer Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I was impressed by the rating and so we had this as our Thanksgiving salad. It was a generous "ok". WAY too many onions (and I like onions). The bacon gave it great flavor which sort of saved it. I won't be making it again.
