Cranberry Crumb Bars
We have been making this for years, since it first appeared in Taste of Home and and it is always a big hit. I've had to copy and send it to people dozens of times. I don't change a thing.

Okra, Chicken and Rice Casserole
I don't like okra so I couldn't give it a higher rating but it isn't a bad recipe. Okra is very common/popular in Japan where we live so thought I would give it another chance and this looked promising. I sauteed the frozen okra with garlic before mixing the rest of the ingredients just because I love garlic. I also left out the chicken since I'm a vegetarian. I thought it was yummy but okra is okra. My kids really hated the okra. It was quite filling and comforting and I would make it again with another vegetable. Maybe carrots or broccoli but I would put the broccoli in in the last 20 minutes or so and would probably use frozen broccoli.

Grandma's Applesauce Cake
I was looking for a recipe like my dear departed Grandmother's recipe and this looked like it might fit the bill. Not sure if it is exactly the same because I didn't have raisins so I substituted dried cranberries. We live in Japan so make due with what my sister sends! It was fantastic and is a definite keeper for us. Very moist and tasty. I am sure that it would be even better the second day as most spice cakes/breads are, but we ate it up while still warm. I didn't soak the cranberries and I forgot to mix the baking soda with water so I just threw in the half a cup of boiled water at the end and it still came out good.
