About this Cook
I'm a part-time tax preparer. I learned to cook at 13 by watching Jeff Smith on PBS. I didn't start cooking full-time until 2002 when my mother was diagnosed with cancer. Now, I cook for myself and my roommate who tends to be a picky eater. I'm always looking for easy, quick recipes that the roomie will eat.
My favorite things to cook
Middle eastern and Italian.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love having Middle Eastern food on holidays like Christmas and Easter.

Simple Sloppy Joes
I made the following modifications: used 1 1/4 of meat (that's all I had), added diced onion and green peppers, decreased the soy sauce to 1 tbsp then added 2 tbsp of yellow mustard and 2 of Worcestershire sauce. Both my roommate and I loved it! It tasted like the sloppy joes I had when I was a kid.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I
I loved this recipe. I didn't have onions, so I omitted them. I added a can of potatoes and carrots(both drained) in the last hour of cooking. It was delicious. Even my picky roommate loved it. I served it over white rice. Leftovers are delicious, too.
