About this Cook
I am a busy Mom to two beautiful babies. I have been cooking and baking since I was a little girl. I enjoy spending time with my family outdoors. We love to go camping and for walks to the waterfront. I am a self-proclaimed interior decorator and artist. I love anything that allows my creativity to shine through...I think that is why I love cooking so much.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook scrumptious and hearty dinners for my family and friends. Anything from roasted chicken to Indian butter chicken. I am a spice fanatic and enjoy experimenting with different spice combinations in my dishes. I also love to bake, which is something that I'm sure was passed down from my grandmother and mother. I love to make cookies, cheesecakes, cakes and dumplings with fresh fruit...yum!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Like a lot of others, I enjoy my Mother's turkey dinner with all the fixings. There is something about a delicious holiday meal that makes you feel content and happy. I also love to cook for my parents when they visit. It gives them a chance to try things that they normally may not, but they enjoy it just as much as I enjoy making it.
My cooking triumphs
White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake! (from this site) My Mom still raves about it to this day. I also make delicious homestyle pork chops and buffalo wing pizza!
My cooking tragedies
I think most of my tragedies have been with baking. I can be somewhat of a scatter-brain, and I know there have been a couple times that I forgot an ingredient in some baked good. Forgetting an ingredient in cooking just leaves out a bit of flavour, but in baking...forgetting an ingredient can be tragedy for sure.

Holland Boterkoek
I would have given this 5 stars but the name is misleading. My husband and I thought that this would be similar to a dutch butter pound cake. This recipe is actually perfect for making kano coekjes (canoe cookies) which are another dutch dessert. They are typically long bar cookies with almonds on the top.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust
I have made these pizza dough twice now and it turned out delicious both times! Very simple and easy to make even if you aren't a bread maker. Just make sure that the water isn't so hot that you kill the yeast...I did that twice.
