I first started cooking out of necessity when I left my parent's home. As the years passed, my interest and skill expanded (as well as my waist). Today, at 57, I consider myself a very good cook. I understand and use most preparation and cooking techniques. Cooking has become my passion as well as a hobby.
My favorite things to cook
I can't say there is a "favorite" thing that I cook. Like most cooks, I have successes, great triumphs, and an occasional complete failure. Of course, my favorite things are those that exceed my expectations.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I did not come from a family of great cooks, but my mom was known for at least two great things. One was her method and recipe for cole slaw (which I unfortunately did not learn), and second for her holiday nut rolls which I did learn, and make for my siblings and friends every Christmas season to keep the tradition alive.
