About this Cook
I love to cook and entertain, and especially enjoy trying new recipes with non-conventional ingredients. This web site has been the best thing to happen to my cooking expertise since my very first cookbook, "The Good Houskeeping Cookbook". Concerning my reviews on allrecipes, my mom always taught me, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." Hence, I only review the recipes I like; however, I do appreciate and take into consideration others' reviews, good or bad, and their suggestions when I prepare recipes from allrecipes. In fact, the reviewers have taught me as much about cooking as the recipes themselves. I must admit that I have a pet peeve: people who change submitted recipes then give them a bad review!
My favorite things to cook
Appetizers, salads, pasta dishes, lamb, and fish (especially salmon and haddock).
My favorite family cooking traditions
I love hosting traditional Thanksgiving at my home. We usually have 15 to 20 family members join us for a dinner consisting of slightly varied versions of the same dishes (turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, etc., etc.) each year.
My cooking triumphs
My best dishes usually involve salmon or haddock, although barbecuing steaks and chicken is high on the list, too!
My cooking tragedies
Lamb "briquettes" resulting from my grill flaming up and consuming my lovely baby lamb chops!

Tiramisu II
Absolutely fabulous! After reading the reviews, I doubled the coffee and rum. I didn't have cocoa powder, so I grated unsweetened baking chocolate over the top of the completed tirimasu. This was a huge hit at our super bowl party.

Make-Ahead Mashed Potatoes
What a pleasure to be able to make mashed potatoes without the last-minute hassle of peeling, cooking and mashing. These are delicious!

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad
I used 5 med.-size boneless, skinless chicken thighs, seasoned with seasoned salt, garlic powder and pepper then microwaved about 10 minutes. I increased both the cilantro and green onion amounts to 1/3 cup each. I cut the oil in half after reading reviews, and I added blanched and chilled sugar snap peas (boiled for 1 min. then plunged in ice water for several minutes - this gives the peas a bright green color but they remain nice and crunchy) Also added an 11 oz. can of mandarin oranges drained and cut in half (would have added another can but only had one). This was insanely delicious!
