I'm 24 and my first memory of cooking was when I was four years old. I was standing on a chair helping my mom stir in the ingredients for spaghetti sauce. I now have a daughter of my own and can not wait to make similar memories with her.
My favorite things to cook
Anything that looks and sounds fancy.
I also love cooking healthy stuff.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Pancakes are a tradition on Christmas morning. New Years day we eat ham, cabbage, and blackeyed pea soup.
My cooking triumphs
When I was 13 I successfully planned and hosted my first dinner party.
My cooking tragedies
I remember learning to cook pancakes. I thought it would be nice to make my single mother, who worked three jobs to support me, breakfast in bed. I must have been 7-9 years old and I didn't know that T. stood for tablespoon and t. stood for teaspoon. Lets just say they were a bit too salty. The next weekend I mixed up the baking powder with baking soda. My poor mom. She always ate them, she just added extra syrup. She swears to this day that I make the best pancakes. I guess practice makes perfect.
