About this Cook
My name is Maya, I’m 18 years old and live in Israel. I started cooking when I was very young, mainly due to the fact that my mother worked late, and preferred to make my own meals rather then defrosting ready-to-eat meals. Since then my love to cooking has only grown.
My favorite things to cook
I love anything that has to due with carbs- pastas, sandwiches, baking, and more. And also, any thing that used to have a mother: :) chicken, beef, seafood etc.
My favorite family cooking traditions
All types of pastas and pizzas from my Italian side, and I prefer to leave the Hungarian cooking to my grandmother..
My cooking triumphs
My well-packed toasts and seafood pastas.
My cooking tragedies
A very weird dish with fake shrimps (forgot the name..) and a creamed tomato sauce. I thought it came out horrible, even though my friends loved it. Oh, and a seafood paella that came out very, very spicy- too spicy! Had to add more rice to make it eatable.

Grandma Johnson's Scones
I'm not rating this recipe as it came out and I want to leave the avarage, because I did not have Cream of Tartar, and had to use the lemon thing from the common subtitutions section- It came out awful, I just want to warn others not to do what I did!

Peanut Butter Cookies with Chocolate Chunks
I made these cookies with a regular cheap peanut butter that was was sweater than the regular skippy type brand. I'm sure that with a better peanut butter these will come out much better- will try again, and SOON. Oh, and BTW, no one had a chance to taste them because i finished them all!

Ann's Shrimp Etouffee
Even though my family rated this 5, I still didn't taste anything extra-ordinary that would make want to have this again, especialy with the long cooking time. I don't know, maybe it's due to all of the changes I made- used chicken broth as recomended (and yes, I scaled it down) added 1 tbs tomato paste and used 2lb shrimps and 1/2lb scallops (which was my first time cooking scallops- and they came out delicious!) Also, as spices used , besides the ones in the recipe, cayene pepper and a lil bit of chili powder for a kick. over all was good and enjoyed it. Thank you for a very good recipe!
