Baby Blue Punch

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I'm not much of a punch person but this was really tasty and very cute! I served it for my son's first birthday party with a pond theme of frogs and rubber ducks. I subbed white grape juice for the white cranberry. Everyone raved and it disappeared!

Dirty Diapers

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
This was such a cute appetizer for my son's first birthday party! And it was simple and tasty also. I used a pound of ground beef with about 4 ounces of shredded cheddar and a packet of onion soup mix (no pickle). I had enough filling for 2 cans of crescent roll dough, though. Everyone loved it and they were scarfed down quickly. Thanks for the post!

Mini Tacos

I made these using Tostito's Scoops. They were good but somewhat labor-intensive for such a casual snack. Sour cream is a must for these!

Cheesy Ranch Potato Bake

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2009
This was a super side dish and the leftovers were great to take for lunch at work! Really simple to make, just a bit time-consuming. I used only 2 tablespoons of butter and melted it per previous reviewer's advice, plus I reduced the chili powder to only about 1 teaspoon. So good!!!! Thanks for the recipe!

White Brownies

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
YUMMY! These were the simplest thing to make and taste so good! I used 1/2 cup of milk, according to previous reviewer's advice. I don't think these are meant to be fluffy - they're more of a gooey bar with a crunchy edge. Thanks so much for this recipe!

Garlic Chicken with Orzo Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2009
This was really quick and tasted good. We're not huge fans of heat though, so I'll reduce the amount of red pepper flakes next time. I prepared the orzo with a can of chicken broth and a can of FF cream of celery soup to add some creaminess. Good weeknight meal!

Toasted Butter Pecan Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
I really wanted to like this cake but we just weren't impressed. The cake turned out dry (did I overmix or overbake?) and the icing was too sweet for our taste. Worth a shot, though.

Tangy Slow Cooker Pork Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2009
We seem to be in the minority, but we didn't really care fot this. I felt the pork was very tender but bland. I added carrots and potatoes per another reviewer's recommendation.

Creamy Roasted Vegetable Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
I used about another teaspoon of dijon, subbed red pepper for green pepper and doubled the mayo and parmesan. For us, this just didn't work. The onion needed to be cooked more so it would mellow, and I think it should have been a red onion. Didn't have a lot of flavor - we probably won't be having again.

Sesame Chicken Strips with Sweet Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
This was OK. Was a bit of a pain to make though and it wasn't super-impressive so I don't know if we'll have again. We used panko bread crumbs instead of cracker crumbs and added some dijon to the sauce. We cut the chicken into nuggets instead of strips and they still took longer to bake.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

I'm not sure why, but we really didn't care for this. I like all of the ingredients that go in it but it seemed very dry to me. Was worth a try, though!

PHILLY Bacon and Tomato Presto Pasta

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2009
This was quick and easy. I thought it was just OK but DH loved it so we gave it 4 stars. I used chopped plum tomatoes, lite chive and onion cream cheese and only 8 oz. of dry penne. Good weeknight meal.

Snickerdoodle Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
This was a simple recipe with delicious results. I took PP's advice and used butter instead of shortening, added a teaspoon of vanilla and cinnamon to the batter, created a layer of cinnamon sugar halfway through cake and drizzled with a half cup of melted butter. Yum!

I can't put my finger on it, but we just really didn't care for this. We like everything that goes into it but the finished product didn't impress. Was very filling though.

Pepperoni Cheese Balls

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
This was good! It tastes a lot like another pepperoni dip I make from this site that uses cream of mushroom soup and is heated up. My DH made this for his poker buddies and just served it in a bowl but I'm definitely going to try forming these into bite-sized balls. I think the mild creaminess is a good accent to the spiciness of the pepperoni!

Cream Cheese Cookie Cups

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2009
Like other posters, we doubled the cream cheese filling so we could use the entire amount of cookie dough and added mini chocolate chips. I want to try this with cocoa added to the cream cheese mixture also, that sounds good. Very rich but they were well received by our guests.

Grandmas Chicken Chardon

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2009
Mmmm good! I took other reviewer's advice - used Italian bread crumbs, doubled the butter and lemon juice mixture and added minced garlic to it and topped the chicken with part-skim mozzarella for the last 10 minutes. Hubby and I both enjoyed this a lot, great with roasted veggies (potatoes, carrots and red onions). Thanks!

Orzo with Tomatoes, Basil, and Gorgonzola

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2009
I really enjoyed this recipe! Made this ahead for work lunches and it really satisfied. I used chicken broth instead of veggie b/c that was what I had, diced plum tomatoes instead of cherry, and used cubed mozzarella instead of gorgonzola due to availability. The orzo does brown quickly so be careful. I added toasted pine nuts, which really accented the nutty flavor of the pasta and added a nice little crunch. Mmm!

Chicken Chipulos

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2009
We loved this! I make another recipe that tastes like this but is so much more labor-intensive... this will replace that in my recipe box! I had to cook the chicken so I added the onion into the pot (we don't like raw onion). I added a drained can of corn and about a half cup of salsa - absolutely delicious!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
These were OK. I used pre-made Nestle toll house cookie dough and used a small cookie scoop for uniform size. Froze the scooped dough for about a half hour (may do it for an hour next time). I frosted the cupcakes with chocolate buttercream frosting but this made them too sweet - I think they're better unfrosted. DH wasn't impressed and I just felt they were OK.
