About this Cook
I am a working Mom with a 12yr old daughter. Returned my 1st husband to the store and married an incredible man who has a 10yr old son. I try to cook for the family and friends whenever I have the chance so I go either simple or gourmet depending on the time I have. Cooking and baking is my way to relax and is more like a hobby than a chore. I have a web based business, SilverFantasy.com,based out of the house so I get to throw some cooking in on my "breaks".
My favorite things to cook
My daughter's side taught me some traditional foods like green chile and tortillas. I enjoy making as many foods as I can from scratch rather than canned or boxed from granola bars to farmer's market spaghetti sauce.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have 2: Home made pizza the kids help top and it's always eaten infront of the TV as a Friday night treat. Secondly, we have become the holiday house. Thanksgiving, Easter, Christmas, etc. is always at our house enjoyed by any family or friend that can come. :)
My cooking triumphs
Mastering the large holiday meals on my own.
My cooking tragedies
Making the stock for my chicken noodle soup to feed a sick family member and straining the stock right down the drain. Forgot the bowl UNDER the strainer. 11/4/08 update:I made a casserole and it spilled over while cooking last night. I put the oven on self clean today and went about my way. It started smelling REALLY potent so I went to check. Uh. There was kinda a fire that engulfed the bottom of the stove (on the inside) and had flames almost to the top (inside) of the stove. I quickly (didn’t know I could move this fast) grabbed the baking powder and fire extinguisher (I thoughtfully bought for fireworks – not my cooking/cleaning) and stood guard. After about 5 minutes it went out on its own. Pizza delivery for tonight.

Big Al's K.C. Bar-B-Q Sauce
FAST. EASY. INEXPENSIVE. DELICIOUS. No slicing, dicing, straining, etc. Had everything on hand. BETTER THAN STORE BOUGHT taste. Thanks so much for sharing! (I left out the smoke for family tastebuds and still won't buy another bottle again)

Neat Sloppy Joes
Used 1/2 ground turkey and FINELY minced the celery. Followed recipe exactly. Didn't knock my socks off but the taste was better than "Sloppy Joes II". I really liked using the tomato soup. Will cut sugar in 1/2 if not more, otherwise a keeper recipe. EASY

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I
This is the exact recipe from my crock pot recipe book. Since I only give it 4 stars I was looking for the next best thing. It's made it through two marriages...I guess don't mess with it. Sometimes I add corn and green beans or mess with the thickness. Otherwise, take the credit and run! :)
