I have 4 grown children and I'm going to be having my first Grandchild in July. I'm an avid gardner and grow alot of my veggies along with hundreds of perennials. I love to cook all different kinds of dishes. I'd say everything from the simple and quick to the more complicated ones. I always encouraged my kids to help me cook in the kitchen and most of them loved it. My son is an excellent cook too. I have learned from trial and error just like most of us. I follow a recipe to a certain degree, but it seems I always add this and that to it and it still turns out great!
My favorite things to cook
Oh soooo many dishes, but Lasagna, lots of Italian, casseroles, cakes and desserts are a favorite too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother side was German and Irish and my fathers was Dutch and German. My Grandmothers were excellent cooks and both cooked in a diffent way. We had many meals of dumplings and sauerkraut and roast dishes..it was all delicious. I married into an Italian family and I learned to cook alot of dishes the old fashioned Italian way of cooking, and I'm so glad I did. I was taught many hand me down recipes. To this day though I still cannot make dumpings like my Grandma. I can only keep trying..LOL.
My cooking triumphs
It was probably cooking Thanksgiving dinner for 20 people on a days notice..whew!!!!!!!
My cooking tragedies
I once tried to make a home made angel food cake for my daughter for her girl scouts and when she displayed her cake for everyone to see, s l o w l y the cake deflated to about an inch before our eyes, my daughter and myself were so embarrassed, but died laughing at the sight of it.
