About this Cook
I am a happy mom of 3 boys. I love to read, surf "All Recipes", volunteer in my kid's schools, bake. I hate to clean up after making dinner or baking anything!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake homemade muffins and quick breads. I have very much enjoyed trying out several new dinner recipies from "All Recipies"
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom & her mom are both very much comfort & traditional cooks. We all like to make meals that don't require a ton of ingredients (or expensive ingredients). Simple is good, but trying new things out once in a while is important too.
My cooking triumphs
I like to plan and shop for a weekly menu, but sometimes I just don't have time to make what I had planned. I am happy now that I have learned how to have enough staples on hand & how to make several basic but tasty meals that we never have to get take out or resort to "Freezer Food" unless I have specifically planned to do that as a break for me or a treat for the family. My other triumph is that my boys (at least 2 out of 3) are very receptive to most food.
My cooking tragedies
I am sure that there are many tragedies in my past, probably mostly failed attempts at homemade candy, but as hinted above, the most tragic thing about cooking is having to clean up!

Cinnamon Popcorn
Totally addicting! For some reason I had to cook it longer in the microwave, and then 15 minutes @ 300 in the oven, but it all worked out and was delicious. (I did sub pumpkin pie spice for part of the cinnamon)

Penne with Garlicky Broccolini
I found this addicting. My family also liked it, but not as passionately as I did. This was a midweek, no time to shop fill-in recipe, so I used broccoli like others had since I had no broccolini on hand. I only used a 12 oz package of penne and did not have a dryness problem. It also gave it a greater veggie to pasta ratio which I like.
