About this Cook
Wife and mom to three beautiful girls ages 18, 7 and 3. I was born and raised in Florida and now live in beautiful Tennessee.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook (almost) everything. My favorite things though, are the things that my family loves to eat the most. I love to make Key Lime Pie and a my own recipe that we call "chicken, black bean stuff"- I should probably come up with a real name. And now Flan, because it's my husbands absolute favorite. Basically anything that reminds us of our Florida roots.
My favorite family cooking traditions
For Christmas it's an absolute must that I make rolled sugar cookies that my daughters and I cut into Christmas shapes, frost and decorate. We also make cinnamon rolls for major holidays and for birthdays.
My cooking triumphs
I'm a way better cook than when my husband and I first got married so I consider that a huge triumph.
My cooking tragedies
When I was about 10 years old, I decided to make up my own recipe for goulash (I don't even know if that's how you spell it). My mom didn't have tomato sauce so I used ketchup and a ton of powdered garlic. My dad ate a whole plate of it and I thought it must be really good until I tried it. Yuck! That is the worst thing I've ever eaten. My poor dad! He was a really good sport though and didn't want to hurt my feelings. I still get teased about it every time our family gets together. *But* I'm still not afraid to experiment.

Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins
This is the third muffin recipe I've rated on Allrecipes and if I'd made this one first then I wouldn't have given the other two such a high rating. I gave a muffin to my mom and she said it tasted like a chocolate covered banana. They are seriously fabulous! I (like others suggested) used sour cream instead of yogurt and butter instead of oil becuse I didn't have either of those things. I also used a 50/50 blend of white flour and white whole wheat flour. They were dense for sure, but very moist and really, really tasty- just the way I like them.

Pizza Dough I
This recipe is fast and easy so I can make it at the last minute. I toss everything into my bread machine and let it make the dough for me. I also substitute 1/2 whole wheat flour for the amount called for. It turns out great every time and my family loves it.

Chocolate Chip Muffins
I followed the advice of Mandacook1 and added 1/4 cup of sour cream and vanilla extract. I also substituted melted butter for the oil since I didn't have any & I used 1cup white flour and 1 cup whole wheat flour. It turned out fantastic and very moist. This recipe is super simple to make and tasted really good. I love it because I can throw these together at the drop of a hat.
