About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I'm a big fan of baking. I'm known as the brownie queen around here.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Grandma's food always tastes the best.
My cooking tragedies
Thanksgiving turkey breasts didn't cook all the way. Good thing we had ham, too!

Apple Harvest Pound Cake with Caramel Glaze
I followed the advice of other reviewers and subbed 1/2c of applesauce for 1/2c oil. I also used all whole wheat flour - that was probably a bit much, as it was much more hearty-tasting than most cakes. I'd probably go 3/4 ww 1/4 white next time. I added probably 4 medium/small chopped apples, and I'd add more next time. And, last sub: 1/2 white 1/2 brown sugar. I didn't go with the glaze, as I didn't want to add a stick of butter to this thing, and it was very tasty without it. Disappeared very quickly.

Hummus III
My first homemade hummus, and it got rave reviews. I read somewhere that to make a creamier hummus, boil the chickpeas and remove as many of the little 'shells' as possible (or have patience for). I did that, and used a bit of garlic powder instead of cloves. A great recipe for hummus beginners- I'll be checking out the rest of the reviews to add upon it next time.

Easy Taco Casserole
Really oily and not to our taste, we were sad to waste the taco stuff. Made for friends who normally will compliment the chef, but not this one!
