I was thrown into cooking when I got married....in his bachelor days, my husband used to make ramen in a coffeepot. So if we were gonna eat, I was gonna learn. I am adventurous and work hard not to get into ruts with my food...but tried and true recipes are a wife's best friend! I am a working woman and sometimes it's a challenge to make home-cooked food consistently. I rely heavily on pre-cut veggies and little shortcuts that save time and help me make a tasty dish. I make breads from scratch because I don't want to stray too far from the old ways..tradition is important to me.
My favorite things to cook
Cookies, casseroles, lasagna, cakes, soups, slow cooker, unique chicken dishes, Middle Eastern food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I enjoy making food that I grew up with. My family is from Syria and the food while growing up is a fond memory. I hope to create the same homey comfort for my own children. Never forget where you came from!
My cooking triumphs
A dark chocolate/white chocolate cheesecake with berries, amazing and addictive bean dip that my family makes me bring every Christmas dinner, Italian Wedding Soup with scrumptious, homemade meatballs.
My cooking tragedies
I made a pumpkin-chicken chowder once, and tossed it! It was so gross! It tasted like baby food.
