About this Cook
Happily married 30-ish year old who is constantly trying new recipes, foods, and the ever daunting prospect of getting my husband to try new foods!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook appetizers and munchies. During the holidays I like to try baking and impressing everyone with yummy dressing and turkey. I seem to excel at cooking Mexican style, sometimes better than restaurants!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I come from a meat and potatoes kind of family - you put it in front of me and I'll try it once!
My cooking triumphs
I've mastered the roux!
My cooking tragedies
So far I've only made a meal or two that my hubby won't eat... I'd say that's pretty successful!

Pork Chops Stuffed with Smoked Gouda and Bacon
Made this last night, it was very tasty. My chops were too thick to finish on the Foreman so I popped them in the oven until all the pink was gone. My picky fiance loved them!

Vegetarian Quiche
This was very good, the curry powder gives it a great taste and a beautiful golden color. I didn't use fresh veggies, I chose two 10 oz boxes of frozen steamed veggies and nuked them until almost done. Added to the pie plate, poured the egg on, baked, and enjoyed! **I did cook my quiche for 45 mins and it still wasn't completely done in the middle. Make sure you check it, may take an add'l 10 mins or so.

Warm Steak and Potato Salad
Made this for dinner last night and thought it was decent. I roasted the potatoes with rosemary. As everyone says, double the dressing - that's barely enough for two. I wish I would have marinated the steak, it was kind of blah. I would make it again.
