Country Banana Bread

I tried the recipe as written - which I like to do before changing it. And yep, there is way too much oil for my taste. You could easily cut it in half. It is definatley more cake than bread. With that said I will use the recipe again becauase it is so easy! Probably will add some spices and definately much less oil.

This was really good. I followed the recipe exactly except it was done in about 6 hours on high. I would definately use again!

Pollo Fajitas

My family loved this recipe. Using the lemon with the recipe is a MUST. Do not miss this step. Totally changes the flavor of the chicken. I used chicken breasts and added a little cumin because I love it. Other than that followed exactly. Will definately use again, can't taste the soy sauce or worch. sauce -- doesn't taste asian at all.

Bean Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2009
I followed the directions except pureed some beans at the end and added 1/4 cup ketchup and 1/4 cup brown sugar as other suggested. Oh - and doubled the veggies. Was really good, will definately make again. **UPDATE 3/23/09 - this soup has become a staple in our house. Usually make it a couple times a month. I follow step #1, then throw everything in the crock pot (either on low or high depending on how much time I have). I have used bacon or sausage instead of the ham omitting the ham hock and it turns out great. I am making it again today!

Slower Cooker Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
This received mixed reviews at my house. I liked it, my husband did not. I would not use the steak seasoning. I used some, but not all and my family still thought it was too spicy. Will probably use this as my base and play around with it to our liking.

Barbeque Chicken

This was really good. I was only looking for a good sauce so I must admit I cheated and threw everything for the sauce in the crock pot, stirred and added the chicken. Cooked all day on low. It was wonderful! I did double the sauce amount though.

This goes without saying, but this was AWESOME. My 13 yr old and 3 yr old ate it. I will make again and again. Followed the recipe exactly. You can throw in whatever your family likes really. Next time I'll take others advice and add mandarin oranges and gorganzola. YOU CAN'T MISS WITH THIS ONE!

These are good basic pancakes, but nothing to rave about from my family. Just average pancakes. I have liked others from this site better.

Texas Ranch Potato Salad

This is awesome. I made it at a family reunion and everyone wanted to recipe. Per other suggestions I used half mayo and half sour cream. I also did not let it sit 2 hrs. Maybe a half hour. The bacon was crispy which everyone thought added to the salad. LOVED IT!

This was a great recipe. Awesome flavor. I soaked my beans overnight and then cooked in the crock pot all day. I added some hot sauce to mine since I like things a bit more spicy. Will definatley make again and again!

Buttermilk Honey Wheat Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
I used my bread machine to make this bread overnight. Becaure of this I couldn't monitor the consistency of the dough. The loaf came out really high (overflowing the pan) and very light/airy. It does have a good flavor however so I am going to play around with it - less buttermilk maybe or more flour. The taste is good enough it's worth the experimenting. As written though I would only give it 2-3 stars.

Whole Wheat Honey Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
If I could give this 10 STARS I would. This is by far the best whole wheat bread I've ever made in my bread machine. I love that there are just a few basic ingredients that I always have on hand. I used shortening the first time and butter the second time with no difference in the loaf. I did not have to add gluten or modify it in any way. Try it as written before you start tweaking it. It is perfect for sandwiches - I may never buy bread again all because of this recipe!

Bread Machine Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
This is a good bread recipe - has a good texture and basic flavor. However, I was hoping for more garlic taste. I used my bread machine on a 1 1/2 lb loaf and light white crust and it came out perfectly. I will definately use again, but with more garlic.

Brown Sugar Oatmeal Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2008
These are great pancakes! Was looking for an easy recipe because I needed to go shopping and was out of milk, and buttermilk. I used plain yogurt and did add some vanilla too. They turned out great! A nice hearty pancake. Be sure to cook on a lower heat as others have stated. Will definately make again and again! **Update 3/05/09: These are the only pancakes my fam requests. I have made them with whatever I have on hand - buttermilk, milk with vinegar or lemon juice, and plain yogurt. All work basically the same. I have subbed the quick oats with slightly ground rolled oats. I usually add 1 tsp vanilla since my family prefers sweeter pancakes. I have also added blueberries (my fav) and choc chips (fam fav). You really can't go wrong! These are pretty much the only pancakes I make now. Lower heat on the grill is critical though!

I use this recipe often. Very easy and makes nice waffles. I usually double the recipe and use 3 cups whole wheat flour and only 1 cup white. Also usually add a bit of cinnamon and nutmeg. They freeze nicely.
