I love to Bake!
About this Cook
I'm a substitute teacher in Chicago. I used to be a comedian/stunt woman and I also used to be an aerobic instructor. I have a Masters, Bachelors and Associate Degrees in various majors. I'm a real homebody, but when I go out, I love Karaoke!
My favorite things to cook
I love to use my oven, especially in the winter. Slow cooking is fun, too. Outdoor cooking is great when I'm camping.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like a lot of comfort food, but I try to watch my portions. I love to bake alot, so there's always a huge stash of various flours and sugars on hand. I also try to find meats on sale. Then I cut them up and freeze them in freezer bags in case I want to make a dutch oven stew in the oven (creamy chicken and leek stew is awesome!)
My cooking triumphs
Making gourmet French crepes, complete with lemon and orange butter, when I was 13. My parents ate them faster than I could make them! Also, I just disovered a great way to make sugar cookies using only whole wheat flour!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make Sushi. I'm still working on it.

Garden Fresh Tomato Soup
Made it with fresh tomatos from the garden. It was very good, but we don't have a 'food mill' so I used a strainer and it was pretty cumbersome. The taste is very good, but will add some peppericinos and basil to spice it up a bit. I think I may add some fresh cheese, too. But the basic recipe tastes great.

Raspberry Oatmeal Bars
I used sugar free raspberry jam to reduce the sugar. These are fantastic!
