God's blessed me with an awesome little family- husband and two little girls (so far). My husband is a youth pastor so we get the priviledge of working with middle and high school students. We live overseas and love being in different cultures and that our children get to experience the world a little as they grow.
My favorite things to cook
Well, people say that dessert is my "love language" so pretty much anything in that catagory is a favorite. Lately I've been enjoying using the slow cooker and making different stir-frys and fried rice concoctions. I haven't really found anything that I DON'T like to cook, so it's hard to pick a favorite.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up we had "Christmas dinner" probably every other month or so- turkey and the works. Plus the nights of great leftovers. My grandmother was from Croatia so every special holiday we made Povatitza- a swirled nut bread from her homeland. I also like that kids are always part of the cooking experience- there was/is always a place for little helpers.
My cooking triumphs
Oh, I don't know.... my husband is so encouraging that everything I make is his "new favorite." I have made some good looking desserts- triffles and such. Oh, and discovering that cream puffs, strawberries, and chocolate fondue are a perfecct match was quite exciting. (Stick a cream puff, then a strawberry, and dip. YUM!)
My cooking tragedies
I made possibly the world's WORST homemade BBQ sauce. It was pretty much inedible- and of course was the theme ingredient in most of the dinner. I wanted to throw it out and order pizza but my husband and our COMPANY insisted on eating it.... at least the dessert was good.
