Honey Wheat Bread I

This has become our family's bread. When everyone is home I find I need to make a recipe every other day. I sub in up to 2 C oat bran flour for the white bread flour. This recipe is so forgiving. Even when I let it rise too long or not long enough, it comes out less than perfect but certainly still tasty. It is such an easy recipe my college daughter makes it often at school.

Cheesy Egg Casserole

Minor variations: I added 2T of flour to the m.j. cheese and I added 4 extra eggs and 1/2C milk (I made it for 12) because it just looked too dry. I made it for some dearly loved Sunday School teachers to thank them for being so wonderful. It prepared easily and was well received.

Shrimp Fettucine Alfredo

Great suggestions in the reviews. I doubled the sauce, kept everything seperate, sauted the shrimp in butter and garlic after the noodles and sauce were done, thickened the sauce with cornstarch and added white wine to thin a bit.

Chicken Breast Stuffed with Spinach Blue Cheese and Bacon

Used feta instead of blue. The bacon makes it taste strongly of bacon. Will add tomato next time. great recipe!

Spinach Cheese Appetizers

Brought this to a wine and cheese party. Perfect for that kind of event. Very cheesy. A little greasy from the butter. Needs a little something to give it more flavor-maybe not such a mild cheese. Not sure what else. Someone try this and write what it needs.

Tofu Fudge Mocha Bars

Baked Corn

I would suggest the following changes. 1C sour cream, 1/2 C margarine, 3 eggs. With those changes you have my family's favorite side dish. They can't get enough of this. When I make it for holidays it is more popular than potatoes and I've had to go to making 2 9x13s.

Creamy Chicken and Rice Soup

With some changes suggested by the review this recipe was fabulous. I reduced rice to 1C, reduced margarine to 1/2 C, skipped the celery, added several cloves of garlic, added probably 5 C of milk. It was just wonderful. Keeper!

Martha's Vegetable Beef Soup

I NEVER make this sort of thing. The closest is chili. My family was very scared when they saw it and asked for very small helpings. Everyone wanted seconds and one of my daughters said "how come this is so good?" I followed what others had suggested. Beef broth instead of water, 1# beef instead of 1/2 and I browned the hamburger with a med onion and several cloves of garlic. Great recipe!
