Leftover Pancake Breakfast Sandwich

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
We make this recipe so often now, that we make pancakes just to eat them this way! I have to say that real maple syrup is a must. Enjoy!

Smashed Cauliflower

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
My family was divided on this recipe. At first I really liked it, but then as I ate more the cheese flavour was really getting to me. If I make this again I'll omit the cheese altogether as others have suggested. Hard on the tummy :(

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
My husband made this recipe and was so excited about it, but I wasn't crazy for it. All I could taste was the root beer! We'll keep looking for a pulled pork recipe.

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
I'm just not a fan of the homemade mac and cheese. It always seems bland to me! Besides that my family wasn't crazy about the breaded topping. Sorry, but this recipe wasn't for us. We'll keep looking though!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

EXCELLENT flavour. My husband made this in the cast iron skillet and it was really yummy. It came out a bit flat - but I think that was operator error. Might have to investigate with another batch ;)

French Beef Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
This was sooooo good! It was ready and waiting for me when I got home from work and I have to say that the beef was so incredibly tender. My husband said it was very easy to make, so all you ladies out there - give this one to the men to make and take the night off from cooking!

Almond-Crusted Tilapia

O-M-G. . . that's all I can say! I must have REALLY been in the mood for this dish because it was incredible. My husband made it for me along with mashed-potatoes with wasabi and it was TO DIE FOR!! He followed the recipe exactly, except for cutting the parmasan in half.

Good recipe - don't get me wrong! Just not a fan of the sweet potato fries I guess. But okay to have once in a while.

Pizza Dough III

Awesome recipe! I will use this one again and again. I live in pizza town, and to have the economy tank and still get to have pizza is a godsend! Maybe not as good as the Italian restarants in the woodburning ovens, but still yummy! Very easy - try it! Mmmmmmmm. . .

Crispy Baked Chicken

Yummy!! I soooooooo needed some comfort food. . . this and some smashed potatoes and sauteed green beans. My mouth is watering just thinking about it, and I had it for dinner only hours ago! Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2009
I took this to a GNO, expecting it to be devoured. The problem with this recipe is that if it's served as an appetizer, people don't want to mix it with the savory stuff. You have to wait until 'after' the initial food is served and then bring it out. Once the girls had switched to the sweet stuff, they raved about it! A definite indulgance!

Jack's Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 23, 2009
This recipe was totally frustrating! I usually don't give bad reviews, but I didn't like this recipe at all. Cookies went flat like others warned, so I expected that. But what I didn't expect was trying to get crispy-edged, gloppy-middle cookies off the cookie sheet. What a mess! Once the cookies cooled, IF you could get them to the rack in one piece they stiffened up enough. And, I'm quite enjoying eating them today - so they have really good flavour. BUT, I can't say I'll use this recipe again.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

We're actually rating these 4 1/2 stars. We doubled the pumpkin and spices, and used brown sugar but other than that, everything stayed the same. Great flavour!

Teriyaki Pork Kabobs

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Yum! We LOVED that the teriyaki sauce was from scratch and not from a bottle. The pork was perfectly done when we made it, not dried out at all. Since it's winter right now, we put these in the oven on 350 for about 40 minutes. Yummy!

Monkey Bars

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Very cool name! There's nothing better than saying "I'm hungry. Where are the monkey bars?" Loved the raisins, used half whole wheat flour, the banana part was great (I'd maybe add a full banana next time), but my walnuts were a bit stale - use FRESH walnuts!! My inner child is screaming that chocolate chips in here too would truly make them 'monkey' bars :)

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2009
Awesome seasoning. We'll surely make it again! I LOVE that you can get a taco seasoning without all the additives and other garbage that they put into packaged foods. My ONLY adjustment to this recipe the next time will be to cut down on the cumin. Thank you for the recipe!

Smoky Chicken Spread

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2009
This is one of the FIRST times that my mother-in-law ate one of my dishes and raved about it. Everyone hovered around the table, afraid to try it thinking that it was a crabmeat dish (they don't eat seafood), but once they found out it was chicken, they dived in. I have to say that the smoked almonds are pretty clever! They add a distinctive flavour and texture that is refreshingly unique. A glorified chicken salad that would be wonderful on a toasted multigrain bread too!

Easy Texas Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
Yummy! This chili was spicy :) Maybe too spicy for my 11-year old though. We used half ground beef, and half ground chicken, and substituted kidney beans. I also added some cocoa powder as other recipes call for this ingredient and I was intrigued. My husband raved about the leftovers the next day. And it IS very easy - just like the name says. Enjoy!

Sweet Corn Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
Good cornbread - maybe a bit light on the 'sweet' part. Also, although the sour cream was a neat idea, I'm not sure that it added an advantage that was worth the extra fat and calories. I may try another recipe that calls for creamed corn next time. Thank you for the recipe!

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2009
Very good! I like my food salty, and it was just right for me, but others may want to cut the salt down a bit. Probably one tsp would be sufficient. Also, the cooking time is longer than what you need, and we used 1" thick pork chops! We will certainly make again. Yum!
