I have been married since 9.28.02 and gave birth to our son Jack on 6.08.06. I absolutely love being a wife and mom and couldn't think of a better job for me. I love learning and exploring the area in which we live and taking advantage of the city's diverse culture.
My favorite things to cook
My husband is a chiropractor and we believe in living as healthy as possible, so I strive to create meals that include fresh organic produce, whole grains and free-range meats. I have found that using foods' natural flavors and juices add great flavor without having to add lot of extra, over-processed sauces, season packets and heavy gravies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Sunday night at our house is "Oatmeal Night". After a week of cooking something different every day and a Sunday lunch after church, a casual evening of a one-pot-meal of old fashioned rolled oatmeal is a welcomed tradition. Throwing in some dates, bananas and some nuts makes it an interesting, healthy, and substantial meal.
My cooking triumphs
I have allergies to wheat, soy and dairy, so to put a dinner on the table that everyone enjoys (including me) is a challenge I face daily and hopefully triumph over.
My cooking tragedies
The first dinner I ever made was when I 16 years old. I tried to make some sort of cracked pepper chicken that was so peppery, it was inedible. My family politely choked and coughed down as much as they could, but the tears streaming down their faces gave them away.
