I am a happily married Mom with 2 children and we have a fur baby ShihTzu. I love to cook and I just love trying new recipes! My passions besides cooking include Spending time with my family. Whatever we do together is great but we especially love going to Disney World! Country Music (Especially Jeff Bates)He has the best voice in Country Music IMHO.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook anything and everything. I am the happiest when someone enjoys the food I have prepared for them. I love to get my creative juices flowing when I am making desserts. I enjoy adding my personal special touches to make them pretty. Lately I am working hard on presentation as well as taste!
My favorite family cooking traditions
To tell you the truth I lost my Mom pretty young. I was too young to appreciate and learn from the incredible cook she was. I pretty much taught myself how to cook. I am working on some new family cooking traditions with my children. I am teaching them to prepare meals early on so they will always feel comfortable in the kitchen! I pick a couple weeks out of each month and I help them plan menus for their week. We make lists of what we need ,go shopping ,and then I help them follow the recipes. They take turns cooking the meals for their given week. It's fun and they really do learn a great deal. At least I know when they go off to college they wont starve. (Or live on Pork and beans) lol
My cooking triumphs
I made my first ham recently! It was delicious and pretty! Whoo hoo! Also for some reason I was intimidated by the thought of making Challah Bread. WOW I finally tried it and it was scrumptious and pretty easy! I made two loaves and it was gone in a day and a half!
My cooking tragedies
I was having a huge New Years Eve party one year. I was cooking for two days. The day of the party I was so tired I dropped a whole tray of sausage and peppers on a carpeted floor due to carelessness. I was in tears. My Sister in law started to take everything and wash it all by hand so we could serve it anyway...I couldn't go through with it and it got chucked in the garbage! That was a nightmare! Thank Goodness there was plenty more carpet free food to serve! lol Otherwise it would have been Pizza Hut perhaps!
