About this Cook
My husband is a golf professional and works long hours. We have two children...one at Texas Tech and one who recently graduated from Texas A&M and is now going to law school at the University of Tulsa. I am now trying to learn to cook for two! I love to try new recipes and love this site!
My favorite things to cook
I love to use my slow cooker....makes the evening more relaxed when I come home from work. My husband likes to cook on the grill. I like to cook on the weekend for the coming week so new casserole recipes are always fun to try. I usually freeze one or two meals from the dinners I cook. This makes it very nice after a busy day to come home and just pop something in the oven!
My favorite family cooking traditions
As any other family with children, our schedules were crazy when the kids were growing up but we always ate as a family every night - even if it was 9:30 p.m.! Took some planning ahead but it was worth it.
My cooking triumphs
I feel my cooking triumph came this year when my daughter moved into her first house as a college student. She cooks all the time. I love it when she asks me for recipes! She recently threw a birthday party dinner and cooked for 10 girls!
My cooking tragedies
When I first started cooking I burned myself with hot oil while frying chicken - made me very careful in the future!

Chicken Marsala
Very easy recipe and really good! Definitely use "real" sherry and not cooking sherry. I added crushed red pepper flakes as recommended by another viewer but we felt like it would be equally wonderful without that addition. Did add a splash of cream at the end and it really melded the flavors of the sauce.

Bourbon Whiskey BBQ Sauce
Yummy! I let the sauce sit covered in my refrigerator for a couple of days after cooking and the flavor improved each day. I put a 4-5 pound rump roast in the crockpot, covered it with this sauce and cooked on low for 10 hours or until tender enough to shred for bbq beef sandwiches. Awesome!

Chicken and Bowtie Pasta with Asiago Cream Sauce
Great recipe and, I agree, you can go wild with your personal additions. I grilled four boneless chicken breasts when we were grilling steak for dinner one night. The next night I made this dish and just sliced the chicken breasts into thin slices. I increased the cheese to 1 cup, increased the prosciutto to 1/2 cup and added 8 ounces of fresh mushrooms (sliced). In addition, I added about 1/8-1/4 cup marsala wine, frozen shrimp and about 1 teaspoon crushed red pepper. It was really yummy. Made alot but the leftovers heated up great!
