About this Cook
I am a newly-wed and I have always loved to cook. It comes naturally in my family my mom and her sisters (all 9 of them) like to feed people and I guess they passed it on to me. There is nothing better than to see someone go back for seconds because they like the taste of it so much.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake and decorate cakes. I have taught myself to decorate the cakes and I love to do the character cakes for the nieces and nephews for their birthdays. The look of awe on their face when I set a cake that looks like spongebob in front of them is just awesome. Christmas pies, cookies, awe heck desserts in general are the best.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Elk Steak. I come from a family of hunters. I was in the third grade and my mother taught me to cook elk steak, mashed potatoes and gravy along with baking powder biscuits. This dinner is still a family tradition when we get together for special occasions.
My cooking tragedies
I made fifteen pies for thanksgiving one year. All of them within about two days. There was a pumpkin pie left and that just never happens, I just didn't think a whole lot about it until a few months later my mother and i were talking about it and she told me that i hadn't put sugar in the pie...oops. to many things going on at once i guess.

Steff's Shepherd Pie
Oh my Heck! Yum!! That was fantastic. I just sauteed some chopped up carrots with the onion and it was fabulous... making it again tonight.

Amish Meatloaf
I really liked this recipe, I have made it more than once. The last time that I made it I substituted onion soup mix instead of the chopped onion and it was even better.
