I am a certified personal trainer. I am very involved in organics and supporting local businesses. I volunteer for a local organic farmer and enjoy taking healthy cooking classes. I also love wine tastings and finding great wine values. An interesting thing about me is that I'm a former professional football player.
My favorite things to cook
Good plate presentation is important to me. I love being creative with fresh fish, vegetables, and making tasty and healthy sauces. I also make Italian, Mexican and Meditteranean influenced dishes. Growing herbs in the summer and adding them to dishes is one of my favorite ways to dress the plate.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother always made "21 Bean Soup" for good luck in the coming year on New Year's Day. I've always loved the soup and now I make the soup (sans pork) about 4-5 times per year. It's great!
My cooking triumphs
I make a mean homemade pizza, but it's really the creative meals that are enjoyed the most. Such as my lasagna rolls, which save time and energy over regular lasagna.
My cooking tragedies
I don't bake much because I really don't enjoy measuring. My home economics teacher in the 8th grade was such a stickler for measuring, perhaps it sparked the "measuring rebellion". I do love No-Bake Cookies, though. Sometimes they come out great...sometimes they don't!
