Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2009
This is delicious! I have a 2, 4 and 6 year old and they loved it. Because of the boys I left out the jalapenos and cayenne, so this can be made for mild palates and still taste great. Added a can of black beans and topped with sour cream and homemade tortilla chip strips. A fall favorite!

Easy Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2009
Easy, Easy, Easy! This is my go-to cookie when I'm in the mood to bake. I am usually a mediocre baker, but these are no fail! I bake them for less time because we like them softer -they seem to melt in your mouth this way. I also color my own "Sugar in the Raw" or Turbinado Sugar (the larger crystal) with food coloring. Just put 1/2 cup sugar with a few drops of coloring in a zip-lock and shake/massage the bag. Add color till you get your desired hue. Gives great crunch and color when baked!

Japanese Style Deep Fried Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2009
Wow, what a great crunch! My family loved these and my 6yr old told me that these were the best thing he'd ever eaten. I think I'll add a little more seasoning next time for personal taste, maybe a little Old Bay. Served with sweet potato fries and broccoli salad - so good!

Chinese Chicken Fried Rice II

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2009
A family favorite! I had some left over rice and teriyaki chicken and beef from take out and so this worked perfectly. I added frozen peas and carrots and yum. I also have made it with shrimp and it's great that way also. Sometimes I throw in cashews too.

Southern Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2008
This is SOOOOOOO very good! I have made this recipe about twice a month all summer long. Last time I used a mix of peaches, blue, black, rasp, straw and marionberries! Turns out perfect every single time. Just be sure to put a sheet pan underneath to catch any boil over. Thanks for a great and easy recipe!

This is GREAT! A good restaurant quality dish. Nice flavors to compliment to this "meaty" fish. Served with rice and stir fried veggies - topped with some of the remaining juices. Yum!

Berry Shortbread Dreams

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2008
WOW! These are the BEST! I am a great cook, but a terrible baker, (too much exact measuring - ha!) but with only a few ingredients, these are out of this world! Pretty too! Can't wait to try out other flavors of jelly. Rasp and strawberry were great! Hmmm, I'm also thinking of sprinkling toasted hazelnuts pieces on top, baking them off without the preserves (still with the thumbprint) and putting a little nutella in the center after cool....

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2008
Very Easy and so Good! I had some unexpected visitors come by and to stretch I added a couple cans of pinto beans. Loved the cilantro and lime. We like spicy, but my kids don't so it was mild for them and we just added a couple dashes of hot sauce in our bowls. Served with cornbread and was a great meal...thanks!

Grandma Johnson's Scones

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2008
Amazing!!!! Love these scones! Moist with a touch of sweet, easy to work with...a dream! I made orange zest, white chip and craisin, and a lemon poppy seed. My kids loved the mini chocolate chip ones. I even broke my mixer doubling the batch...my fault. But worth it! Won't try another scone recipe...the possiblities are endless. My next batch will be savory (I'll leave out the sugar) and make sundried tomato basil , and ham and cheese scones....when I get replacement beaters....:(

Killer Shrimp Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
I get so mad when people rate recipes and change them, but that's what I did this time. (But, at least I didn't change the recipe and give it a low rating - not fair!) I'm giving this 5 stars because it gave me such a GREAT base to work with! I don't care for rosemary, so I omitted it and I added carrots, celery (instead of the seed) and onions. I didn't have any clam juice, but boiled the shrimp shells in the broth to give it more seafood flavor and I only used half the butter. Not exactly as written I know, but that's what's so great about this site, it lets those creative juices flow to suit each individual taste!

Classic Tiramisu

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2008
FANTASTIC!!! I made this for a catering gig a couple years ago and everyone went crazy. I got 3 more jobs from this dessert alone. Now it's the only tiramisu recipe I use. We live in a fairly small community and mascarpone is sometimes hard to find, so I use the cream cheese/sour cream/heavy cream substitute and it works just great. (less expensive too) I often sub. the liquor for very strong coffee with rum extract if I've got a non-drinking crowd. Thanks this is the #1 requested dessert on my menu! Thanks Carol!

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
Very good. These remind me of "Monster Cookies" without all the stuff in them. But, I like all the stuff, so I made some plain, (I did add some vanilla and a little extra PB 1/2 C.) and some with choc. and butterscotch chips and some with M&Ms and peanuts. A little something for everybody. I only baked mine for 8 minutes when I saw the bottoms getting golden and they were just right.

Chicken with Red Grapes And Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
First I made this as written. Pretty good. Weird color and screamed for more flavor...not a fan of thyme, so Next time I only used a pinch of thyme, a couple cloves of garlic and white wine. Really enjoyed it this way. And, yes, thickened it with flour...Nice.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
I've been in a funk from broccoli lately and was looking for something different to awaken my interest in it, especially since we've been trying to eat more because of the health benefits, and I think this recipe is it! A good alternative to my boring steamed with s/p and a hint of butter. Adding the corn starch is a must for us. We often serve this with rice and chicken. I like to mix this recipe and the rice/chicken together on my plate. Has an Asian flair...

Mediterranean Black Olive Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2008
I think my husband thought he had died and gone to bread lovers heaven...He ate half the loaf before dinner and was too full to eat! This is WONDERFUL. I've made it as written, great, but now I always add twice the amount of olives, (we love olives)and leave them whole. I buy a good jar of pitted Kalamatas and they are much less labor intensive. Also, I add a 1/2 tsp of garlic and onion powder and tsp of oregano. I also top the loaf with a sprinkling of shredded parm. cheese before baking. Looks pretty out of the oven. But bakes faster than time stated, but my oven does tend to run hot. Very, very good. Thanks for a bakery quality recipe!!
