I am the youngest of seven children, and most of my early memories of my Mom have to do with her cooking. No one can cook like she could. People would come over at the last minute, and with an allegedly empty kitchen, she would prepare the most delicious feasts! I love to cook just about anything. I hate to clean it all up afterward, though. I loved to sit in the kitchen when the family would get together for holidays. All the women would work and talk and laugh. It looked like pandemonium in action, but it sure was fun. They just don't make kitchens big like that anymore, though. I think we should go back to sitting in the kitchen and having a gab fest while furious cooking goes on in the background. I finally managed to make stew that is somewhat like my Mom's. I tried to make gravy once with whole wheat flour. Do NOT try this at home!
