Don't make it too soupy to start off, add more water if needed at end of recipe

Outre Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2009
Came out the way I always wanted a "healthy" oatmeal cookie to taste : chewy yet flavorful, with a spun sugar like consistancy on the outside of the cookie. 2 thumbs up from Colin!

Waffles I

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2009
My turned out too crispy - never had that happen before, so much so, I couldn't get them out of the wafflemaker. After three failed tries I made pancakes with the rest of the batter - with modifications, it would be an excellent recipe for crepes.

The Old Boy's Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2009
Taste was superb even with modifications: whole wheat flour, sugar substitute instead of sugar and quart of sliced strawberries and a pint of blueberries, as didn't have enough strawberries. The pie wasn't too sweet or sour, not soupy - just great consistancy and tasty - from someone who rarely makes pies. My tween asked for this each night for dessert!

Chocolate Babka

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
Rich taste and flavor. I don't bake much and usually nothing this complicated. In fact for a first time making babka it came out pretty good - it cooked evenly throughout - it was just a bit heavy as I used whole wheat flour instead of white/all purpose!

Chocolate Pudding Cake III

Reviewed: May 16, 2009
I don't know if this is also known by the name "Chocolate dump cake" because it's all made in the same pan, however, it was very easy to make and I had ingredients on hand. I did use sweetened cocoa powder and cut back on the white sugar and used Splenda brown sugar mix. Still came out great using regular choclate chips. Husband and kids loved it.

London Broil II

Reviewed: May 6, 2009
Really good flavor! Meat came out very tender. Like others - I tweaked the recipe - no oregano or ketchup, added lemon and a bit of tiger sauce and 3-4 garlic cloves, as well as, soy sauce.

Bratwurst, Potato and Cabbage Soup

Husband thought was bland but would eat again. Child wanted more cheese in it. I agreed with another reviewer about cabbage boiled overlong with 20 minutes.

Acorn Squash Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2009
Very good! Didn't have evaporated milk so used non-fat and regular milk and don't always like dill weed so substituted cinnamon. Nice for a smooth and creamy veggie based soup - as forgot bacon garnish like rest of reviewers.

Fruit Cereal Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2009
Really good flavor and healthy too. Don't make too many at a time (multipe batches) as fruit may still be too moist on inside (get moldy) and too dried out (cereal part).

Tangy Pork Chops

Very quick, easy and flavorful. I don't usually add oil or even marinade pork chops, just add dry spices prior to cooking and wet ingredients while grilling/cooking chops.

Proper English Cottage Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2009
Really good recipe with changes. I've occassionally substituted leftover cubed turkey/chicken for the beef. Omit cinnamon, parsley ...like others have said.Instead I've used 1 to 1.5 cups of tomato/spaghetti sauce and a dash of worcester sauce and lessened the beef broth to 1 cup for a thicker sauce without using the flour. Other times I've used leftover gravy for all/part of the sauce. It's a great way to use up leftovers at my house!

Very easy to make! Didn't think the coleslaw dressing was right when first made it but after it sat for the required 2 plus hours - it came out great! Very tasty.

Liquor-Infused Chocolate Strawberries

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2008
Too much trouble for results. I have made simplier microwave chocolate covered strawberries that came out better. The strawberries were too mushy and wet after injecting with liquor. The white chocolate didn't add much flavor and didn't melt as easily as milk chocolate.

Oatmeal and Wheat Flour Blueberry Pancakes

Did some substitutions like others: chocolate chips for blueberries, old-fashioned oats for fast cooking ones and added a little vanilla and cinnamon. Came out great and very tasty.

Radish Top Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
Suprisingly good, again reminded of thick, creamed spinach soup. Even my husband liked it - whose sometimes iffy on new veggie recipes. Doubled the radish greens (2 bunches and 4 potatoes) but kept rest of recipe proportions the same. Used regular full fat yougurt, as didn't have cream on hand. Added a tablespoon of curry and teaspoon of black pepper for an extra bit of flavor.
