I am not a cook. It is simply not in my blood . . . but I sure try! I still like to stick to easy things that don't involve complicated cooking words that I don't understand! I attend university full time and work in a restaurant part time, so I should know a thing or two about food by now! Although I may not be an expert in the making side of things, I consider myself an expert in the tasting side for sure! :)
My favorite things to cook
Like I said, easy stuff. I love risottos, noodle dishes, and anything creatively vegeatarian. We veggies simply don't have enough of a creative cooking repetoir- I try to avoid the same old tofu stirfries and veggie patties. I also like to try easy chicken dishes, for my boyfriend's sake, though I haven't worked up to handling beef yet!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have many, though I'm not often involved! :) I LOVE my mom's homemade perogies- amazing! I do happen to be good at those! I also really love the good old fashioned Mennonite roughkuchen (I don't even know if I spelled that right!) that my grandma always makes. And, like everyone else, there is nothing to beat the feeling of Christmas and its smells and tastes and everything involved!
My cooking triumphs
Ummm . . . I made up a really great risotto once. And I make a great tomato cream sauce for pasta. But nothing quite qualifies as "triumphant" yet!
My cooking tragedies
Do I really need to list them? The most dramatic was probably when I was blending up some hot soup ingredients, thought I should check on how they looked, and ended up projectiling hot soup mush all over my kitchen, my clothes, and all through my hair! And this is not an uncommon sort of event in my kitchen . . . :)
