I remember my mom making from scratch cookies and decorating them, its a tradition that seems to be becoming lost but I hope to share it with my daughter when she is old enough. Daughter wanted a 3-d dinosaur cake, I made it for her birthday and everyone thought my mother had made it which is a huge compliment. I was about 12 years old and I wanted to make chicken noodle soup with leftover chicken. I asked my stepmother to get some things and she came back with nothing I asked for. I ended up with a gravy hard potato and carrot slop.
