About this Cook
I am 24, and I have a wonderful family that loves to eat! My husband and I have been together for 7 1/2 years. We have 3 great kids; Mercedes is 6 going on 16, Tyler is going to be 5 and Samantha is 8 months. I am a full time mom and student working on a nursing degree.
My favorite things to cook
We are big pasta eaters, and also meat eaters. I also like to bake and I think I am going to attempt to make my very first pie crust come this fall after our annual trip to the apple orchard.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every year at Christmas time, me and my oldest 2 children bake lots of cookies. We make some for "Santa", some to keep at home and some to take to our annual Christmas eve party. Also, on Christmas morning, I always make cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate for breakfast. Every fall after we go to the apple orchard, I make everything apple! Apple pies, Dutch apple cake, applesauce, and tons of other things!!
My cooking triumphs
One of my triumphs was when i made my first pot roast. I took it over to my mother in laws and her husband said that it was better than the first one she had ever made. Another triumph was when I made "chicken nuggets" for my picky son using cut up chicken and beef that I rolled in flour and bread crumbs and baked in my oven. He is none the wiser and its alot healthier than McDonalds!!
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make homemade macaroni and cheese... it came out stringy and gritty... I still dont know why that happened!

Slower Cooker Meatloaf
I have never liked meatloaf growing up but my husband has been bugging me to make it. I didnt feel like turning on my oven so I decided to look for something I could mix up and forget about. I thought this was excellent, and so did my husband! Even my picky daughter liked it! I didnt change much, except I added a little bit of A1 steak sauce to it for a more smokey flavor.

Slow Cooked Pork Barbeque
This was just *OK*. I didnt like the use of pork chops, I think next time I will use a boneless pork tenderloin, as the chops didnt shred as much as my husband and I would have liked....

Jamie's Minestrone
oh my gosh, this is the best minestrone I have had! This sure beats the canned kind any day! I made a few last minute adjustments. (I was going to make homemade chicken soup, but forgot to buy chicken!! LOL) I used 4 cups of beef broth, a lg. can of crushed tomoatoes, parsley flakes, thyme and garlic powder. I also added one HUGE potato, omitted the zuchinni, and added a can of whole kernel corn. Oh and it was a little too tomatoey for me, so I added a can of chicken broth (I was out of beef). And it turned out GREAT!! Thank you Jamie for a wonderful recipe to warm me up on these cold Wisconsin nights!!
