Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Dec. 23, 2009
This was a HUGE hit. My only changes: I seasoned the roast with s&p plus paprika, beef broth instead of the water, I added a few cloves of chopped garlic and a few splashes of Worchteshire sauce. My bf was literally in love with it and it was so easy! I cooked 2 (2lb.) cuts for 9 hours.

Cousin Cosmo's Greek Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2009
This was "mmm, sooo gooood" (according to my guests) and pretty easy except I didn't brown them very well and I wish I had. Hey, I'm a vegetarian, what can I say? I also did a whole breast, sliced it open and stuffed it rather that pounding and toothpicks. I know exactly what to do next time to make this even better. This is a good recipe though!

Cabbage Rolls II

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2009
Made this for my bf who was nostalgic over his mom's cabbage rolls. I am a vegetarian, so I can't rate the taste, although they smelled great and my bf loved them. I used fresh garlic, extra onions and maybe added a little more spice but really followed the recipe almost 100%.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2009
I made this for some friends and they all loved it. I cannot vouge as I am a veg-head. They devoured them all! I give 4 stars because I don't give a 5 too easily, and I asked what could possibly make them better and one friend suggested marinating them longer. I did marinate for a couple of hours, not the 30 minutes suggested.

Zucchini Herb Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 2, 2009
This is a great summer casserole that you can adapt to your liking! I used brown whole grain rice, 50% reduced fat jalepeno cheddar and reduced the amount a little bit- maybe by 1/2 cup. I added a red bell pepper and used sweet onion and a LOT of it! I used 3 cloves garlic- like I said, change it up a little to however you like it!

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: May 21, 2009
This was my first time making banana bread. I made 3 loaves in 8x3 pans and had a bit too much batter for that. It came out great. I had to cook it longer because my pans were larger than the recipe pan size, but that's to be expected. It got RAVE reviews. "The most awesome" "Unreal" "oh my God make more!" stuff like that. I used some brown sugar on the top of the loaves. Next time I'll try coconut, butterscotch chips, etc. I like making a few loaves because you can make a few different alterations. Great recipe.

Traditional Mashed Potatoes

I know it's nothing fancy or different, but there were VERY good. I kept the skin on (personal taste). This is a great base recipe that you could alter to your liking, but it is super as is!

Steak and Bacon Tournedos

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2009
I am a vegetarian but I made these for my bf and he LOVED them. I gave it 4 stars because I couldn't taste them myself and I think 5 stars has to be mind-blowingly delicious. I used sirloin and forgot the parsley. I also used my indoor grill/panini maker. Next time I will make them with some alterations (maybe cheese, grilled garlic) but they apparently were awesome without.

Scalloped Potatoes I

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I really liked this recipe. So easy! I put some hot pepper flakes on top and maybe some garlic powder. You could do a lot with this- add other veggies, different cheeses, etc. I liked these cheddar scalloped potatoes better than traditional scalloped potatoes.

Peach Cobbler VI

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2009
I added some cinnamon and nutmeg to the batter and sprinkled some brown sugar along with the cinnamon on top and drizzeled a bit of the heavy syrup from the peaches on top too (just a bit). It's not the traditional peach cobbler I think of- maybe I am thinking more of a dumpling type thing- but it is very tasty and easy. I might try it in a smaller dish next time to see if the bready part come out differently. I liked it very much as is though! Served it with some peach ice cream. Yummy!

Monterey Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2009
I am a vegetarian, but I do cook meat for friends and family. I am always wary of this because I can't taste it while cooking, but my bf went NUTS over this recipe. So did my best friend. I followed the recipe but I doubled it. I doubled it w/out adding more of the mushroom mixture and it was still plenty for 8 chicken breast halves. So according to my taste testers, it is delicious.

This was an easy and delicious recipe! I have always loved these bars but never made them myself. I think I would have liked more walnuts, but that's just me. Everyone devoured them. Make these!

Curry Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
I do not give a recipe 5 stars unless it deserves it. The only thing I did differently was I had to use Knoor vegetable mix for broth b/c the store was out of veg broth. It's the same thing, really. Super good soup.

Irish Cream Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
This was great and easy! I think that the other reviewers might have something with pouring the glaze in the bundt pan before inverting it, but mine still turned out wonderfully. Also, maybe warm up the Irish cream before pouring it in the glaze? Maybe mine got a bit lumpy. Still good!

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2009
I swapped the ketchup for bbq sauce and seasoned the ribs with salt, pepper and garlic powder when I browned them. I think that it's not the sauce as much as the cooking method that makes these ribs awesome, so I guess if you have a favorite sauce, you could use that. My bf loved them, even the bones were tender. I could hardly get them out of the crock pot they were so juicy and perfect. Great ribs!

Artichoke Spinach Lasagna

This was very good. After his first bite, my bf said "You can make this anytime!" then proceeded to inhale 3 pieces. He had it for breakfast the next morning too! My friends loved it and so did I.

Caramel Shortbread Squares

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2008
I made these for the first time. I doubled the recipe and made no other modifications. It was a big hit with friends, family and co-workers. They wanted the recipe and asked if I could make them every day! It was tricky (for me) to cut after it was totally chilled, but I should have just let it warm up a bit more, I guess.
