About this Cook
I am 25 and love to cook! I love experimenting with new recipes, especially those with ingredients I have not used much or at all. I recently moved from Atlanta, Georgia where I grew up to a small town in southern Idaho to be with my mom and her side of the family. So far the transition has been easy and I even found a wonderful man to share my time with! I am blessed to have discovered someone who also enjoys cooking and never turns town any of my new recipes!
My favorite things to cook
I enjoy baking a little over cooking, but I think that is only because I have such a huge sweet tooth!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Leftovers from Thanksgiving, mom's potato salad, hotdog men, christmas cookies, popcorn balls, Chocolate Birthday Cake, Chocolate Raspberry brownies
My cooking triumphs
Peach and Raspberry Cobbler, smashed potatoes, beef tenderloin, Candied Chicken Breasts, Meatloaf, Fish Tacos, Apple Cake, Apple Crisp, Sugar Cookies, Thumbprint Cookies, Spinach and Bacon Quiche, Stuffed Peppers, Sesame chicken with Asparagus, Enchiladas, Queso Dip, chocolate raspberry brownies
My cooking tragedies
My mom is usually a great cook, but once she gave me a recipe over the phone that turned out to be terrible. Pretty much it boiled down to seasoning some pork chops and placing them in a 4" high baking dish. The baking dish is filled with RAW rice which you then pour water over. The entire thing is covered in sliced onions and cream of celery (or other "cream" soup). The entire thing is covered and goes in the oven. Apparently, the heat will cause the rice to cook while everything else cooks. let's just say that when it was 'ready' everything was still raw and some of the halfway cooked rice had burnt. Luckily the meat was still raw enough to cook on the stove but it was still VERY embarrassing!!!!

Southern Peach Cobbler
Absolutely delicious. I used more than 8 peaches and it still turned out excellent. I loved how the crust was crunchy but also still fluffy and somewhat cake like. Will definitely make again!

Banana Sour Cream Bread
I thought my Mom's banana nut bread was the best until I tried this. This is banana-nut-bread HEAVEN!!! I added some nutmeg and ginger for a little more kick, and I thoroughly enjoyed every last muffin

Beth's Spicy Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
One word: ADDICTIVE! I love oatmeal raisin cookies and I was very pleased how these came out. I baked them for some friends who came over and they were gone within a few hours. Very good indeed! Will definitely make again.
