I'm 26, married to my wonderful husband for 2 years. We have 3 cats that we are mildly obsessed with- but no kids (yet). I work in technology and web design. I work very hard to maintain my weight, and I definitely believe that health and great taste CAN go hand in hand. I purchase mainly organic foods and personal items, because our environment is very important to me.
My favorite things to cook
Anything I've never cooked before!! I love to be pleasantly surprised by something I thought I wouldn't like or something I've never tried before.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Family tradition for me revolves around holidays. When I was growing up, my grandmother always had a house full of people, and at Christmastime, a house full of cookies!! Anyone who stopped by was treated to a wide selection of baked goods. I like to say I'm channeling her around that time of year- I like to be the one to carry on her (delicious) baking legacy.
My cooking triumphs
Just the fact that I cook each night is a triumph to me. My Mom cooked each night growing up, and I always though I didn't have the skill- I was the type to burn stuff that you cook in the microwave! Right after I graduated from college, I moved in with my husband, and I realized if I didn't want to eat take out every night, I'd have to cook- and we've just gone from there!!
My cooking tragedies
The first time I tried to make spaghetti and meatballs for my husband. The meatballs were black on the outside and pink on the inside. And the spaghetti was mush. He ate it all anyway, but still teases me about it!
