About this Cook
I am one of many who used to stay home full time, but due to our economic times, I've recently went back to work after staying home for twelve years. Wow, I work for the school district in food service, what a joy, I love going to work, I still cook every night as much as I can (football practice, daughters schdule, games, you get the drift) I love cooking for friends and family. Allrecipes is my go to site for great recipes and ideas thanks so much to all the fabulous cooks out there.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite things to cook are slow roasted and braised meats. I'm told my pot roast is to die for, and my Multi purpose spaghetti sauce is the best, my oldest boys friends find out were having spaghetti and we have a house full. I love it
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom passed away two years ago and the one thing I asked of her was to teach me how to make her yeast rolls. Yum. After a few trial and errors I got it. Our first Thanksgiving without her was hard, but her rolls turned out beautifully, it was like she was there with us.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to work with yeast
My cooking tragedies
I made this potato soup from Emerils cooking show what a disaster. The flavor was sour, I had to throw it away. The dogs wouldnt even eat it

Pumpkin Cheesecake in a Gingersnap Crust
This was good, but not what my expectations thought it would be like. The crust was really good, the filling wasn't very firm like cheesecake, it was very silky, mouth fill was not what I was used to. Not very spicey, thought it could be a little more punchy. The family liked it but it wasn't the first thing to go.
