About this Cook
Been cooking since I was 10, as my mom is a mediocre cook at best and leans toward Midcentury WASP cooking.
My favorite things to cook
Depends on the season... Winter I start to crave stews, thick soups and tons of hearty dishes... Summer - it's defintely summer dinner salads. Fall - anything with pumpkin, acorn squash, butternut squash, rutabaga, parsnips, etc. All year long --- Indian, Chinese, Thai and also any gooey, thick, rich, chocolately and really dangerous to a diet dessert
My favorite family cooking traditions
We make Kaluha Cinnamon Rolls for Christmas Morning every year. We celebrate Pi day (3.14 - March 14th) every year with a meal of nothing but pies - dinner and dessert pies. Easter wouldn't be Easter without homemade Dolmades
My cooking triumphs
Buche Noel for Christmas every year.
My cooking tragedies
I was a newly-wed and for one dinner I decided to make Seafood Newburg for my husband. Since there was only 2 of us, I halved the recipe, but forgot to half the sherry. My beloved husband manned his way through several bites, before I tried my portion and gagged. Dear Hubby was too gallant to critize, but was very relieved when after one bit I declared the whole dish inedible.

Cinnamon Ice Cream
Very Easy and no Fail. Very creamy. Strong, but not overpowering taste. Some Ice creams with eggs I can taste the egg in the final product. I did not have that problem with this recipe. Great with an Apple Crisp or an Apple Dump Cake

Swiss Chicken Casserole II
If you are looking for 1970s style comfort food, you've got to try this. Great recipe. Very easy. family loved. reminded me of Church potlucks and "Come home when the street lights come on, kids!" dinners from my childhood.

Avocado Mango Salsa
Fantastic. I, like others have used jalapenos in place of the habanero, and/or used one of each when doubling recipes.
