Chocolate Banana Cream Pie
As written, this might be ok. With modifications, this could be great. I put fresh shredded coconut in the pudding and didn't like it. If your guests aren't told it's coconut, it has this unpleasant tang and texture. I will redo without the coconut. Also, my family prefers graham cracker crusts for a banana cream pie. For best results, make your own crust, your own custard or pudding, and fresh whipped cream. It will taste worlds better.

Homemade Vanilla Pudding
This was very easy to make and so impressively delicious. I used skim milk but a couple of teaspoons of heavy cream for a bit of fat and flavor. Definitely mix the cornstarch in milk before heating. Watch it constantly, since it forms very quickly. Next time I might use leftover rice to make a mean rice pudding. This is a thicker pudding, like you would read about in Dickens - not your runny plastic cup stuff.

Herbed Rice Pilaf
My first homemade pilaf, and very nice. The way I made it was a 5, but required modifications. Used margarine instead of butter to lower fat. Added lots of crushed garlic to the simmered veggies just before baking. Made veggie stock with cubes. Next time I might add a few more veggies. Mine was ready to eat in about 40 mins baked at 325, but the broth was warm when I poured over the rice.
