I'm a 22 year old Child Development major living in beautiful Northern California. I was raised in a very Italian family. The majority of my special memories happened around the dinner table. I live with my loving boyfriend and our two cats, Jet and Lola. I love baking and cooking, and make dinner almost every night. I enjoy having music on when I cook, and reading cookbooks in my free time.
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake...including my famous peanut butter cookies (my own recipe). I make a mean creme brulee as well as brownies. I love to cook Italian, Mexican, and anything with curry. Due to a college student budget, fish and steak are a bit too much for us. I generally cook pork, chicken, turkey, and lots and lots of pasta. I also enjoy cooking Italian cookies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Definitely Christmas Eve dinner. We have a crab sauce with our spaghetti. That sauce has been in the family for generations. We also have shrimp, clams, oysters, crab (a few different varities) and my grandma's escarole recipe. I also enjoy cooking a big breakfast on Sunday...a nice way to end the week and a few extra hours in the pajamas.
My cooking triumphs
I have cooked authentic pad thai a few times. The hardest part was tracking down the ingredients. I went to four different Asian markets looking for tamarind, and found it in a Mexican market...go figure! Everytime I cook my lasagna or peanut butter cookies I am filled with pride. Everyone loves them!
My cooking tragedies
Well, I once cooked chicken mole for my boyfried. I bought the glass jar of mole (I have made homemade but I was being lazy). I chipped the glass jar and unbenowest to me, some glass got into the mole. We had a crunchy dinner that night.
