i'm a wife, mom of 2 girls, and i also have a part-time job. i really do enjoy cooking and every now and then i try my hand at baking. i'm really proud of myself and how much i do make from scratch now. i never planned on being one of those moms/wives who is considered a "Miss Betty Homemaker", but after seeing how much cheaper, better tasting, and reliable it is to cook from scratch it has just slowly developed into a great habit. BUT i must say that if it weren't for this site then i would probably be putting takeout on the table every night. i am honestly on this website almost every day and even if i don't get an exact recipe i'm looking for then i can get a pretty good idea of one to put together on my own from the reviews and other recipes.
My favorite things to cook
anything italian and comfort food. i LOOOOVE the recipe on here for "the world's best lasagna" and at least once a month i make "catherine's spicy chicken soup". EVERYONE that has tried it has asked me for the recipe. even my pop-pop who is a REALLY good cook. my toddlers even LOVE it!
My favorite family cooking traditions
HOLIDAYS!!! my husband and i are still considered newlyweds so basically we're just starting our traditions. so far, every holiday i make homemade stuffing in my slow cooker (which i got from this website..."slow-cooker stuffing"). i get such good reviews on it and my husband tries to get me to make it through out the year but i always dodge him on it so i can keep it special.
My cooking triumphs
i am pretty surprised when i first started learning how to cook (by myself) i made homemade manicotti and even made the noodles from scratch. my in-laws raved about it and it still surprises me today how good that actually came out back then.
My cooking tragedies
where do i start?! i have burnt cookie after cookie. i completely RUINED my daughter's first birthday cake. (luckily i had cupcakes for back up) i tried making up some crazy meatloaf and my husband wouldn't even eat it (and he doesn't let food go to waste EVER) i have made some pretty bad burgers (i never thought that was possible)and the WORST of all is the pot roast i tried to make!!! i felt HORRIBLE throwing away such a large piece of meat but we tried so hard to smother it with gravy, put it in sandwiches, and so on and nothing was edible. it took me a few days of trying to finally just give up on it. (that's what i get trying to wing it without even looking at other recipes)
