About this Cook
Mountain girl at heart my specialties are big hearty meals. I try to make new and interesting dishes now because I like variety. I am always looking for my next favorite food. My family, I am sure, doesn't always like this about me, but they appreciate my effort to enlighten all of our tastebuds.
My favorite things to cook
Complicated recipes. I love spending time in the kitchen working on difficult or time consuming recipes, it makes the end product that much more sweet knowing how hard I worked to prepare it. I also love trying new foods and flavors, it is always fun to see how they turn out.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our Christmas cookies, I love making them. My mom and my extended family would always make a ton and I have carried on that tradition. I make a wide variety every year even though my family is small now, but the cookies never last long.

Classic Peanut Butter Cookies
As a mother of a little one with peanut allergies I have really missed peanut butter cookies. Then I decided to try this recipe but instead of using peanut butter I used sunflower seed butter. I just have to say that it was such a good substitute, it tasted so similar but delicious in its own way. I highly recommend trying it!!!

Kielbasa Stew
Very tasty! Made a few changes based on what I had on hand and still turned out great. I used kale instead of cabbage, red bell pepper instead of green, and red onion- made it very colorful. Also at the end I added two cans of cannellini beans.
