Fruitcake

OMG ... this is the BEST ... I cannot imagine why anyone would not like this fruitcake ... the only thing I changed was I used only one tablespoon of cloves, because they can so easily be overwhelming, and that seemed like a problem some people were having ... other than that, I went by the recipe, including baking in a pretty bundt pan ... it baked for 3 hours (I think that must be a typo in the recipe--there is no way this thing could could in one hour) ... and I allowed it to cool completely before attempting to take it out of my pan ... it popped right out, and it is gorgeous ... it overflowed a bit, but that was okay, because I was able to eat the edges, and they were amazing ... I cannot wait until Christmas to eat and share the rest with dinner!

Orange Chicken

Tasty ... did as-is, except that I used Italian bread crumbs instead of the dressing mix ... at any rate, anyone who likes Shake 'n' Bake should be a fan of this recipe ... tasted just like it, and crisped up well ... would probably be good on pork chops, as well, if you like them ... will make again, I'm sure ... maybe add a little crushed red pepper next time, tho' ... thanks!

Hot Pepper Jelly

This is so delicious ... I used 1.5 packs of Sure Jell, and it was perfect ... I've made two runs so far, using a few Tabasco peppers, and it's absolutely perfect ....

Pretty Chicken Marinade

This marinade is amazing. I used lime instead of lemon (don't care for lemon) and cut the liquid smoke down to 1 Tbsp. (personal preference). I marinated 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts for about 4 hours, and they were AMAZING on the grill ... we ate two, and I am going to chop the third tonight and use it on homemade pizza. Try it! Thanks!

Alice's Sour Cream Chicken Breasts

I'm giving this two stars b/c we were able to eat it ... honestly, it should probably just get one ... I did not do it in the microwave, but I used the ingredients listed ... it was beautiful to look at on the plate ... but as far as eating it goes ... it just had a weird taste ...will definitely not be making this again ... thanks anyway!

Old Fashioned Cookies

Excellent texture ... moist, but firm enough to put in a lunchbox without it crumbling ... not overly sweet ... I didn't change a thing, except for scaling the recipe by half ... still got 18 cookies ... I just scooped them out by tablespoons and flattened them, but they would have been excellent "cutter cookies" ... thanks!

Lemon Cream Pasta with Chicken

I thought this was absolutely wonderful ... I used lime instead of lemon (boyfriend doesn't like lemon), and did half cream/half skim milk, but it was absolutely divine! I didn't do the chicken in the oven, tho' ... I sauteed it in a large pan with the juice and other ingredients, took it out, deglazed the pan with some of the broth, then added the rest of the broth and all that ... it was great ... thanks!

Fried Okra

Good ... but, people, keep in mind: This is fried okra, NOT batter-dipped okra. Some of the breading WILL fall off when you are cooking it ... that is part of the dish, however, the "crunchies" ... handle gently when frying, and it will come out yummy ... thanks for the recipe!

Fusion Hummus

Good ... the fresh rosemary is a great addition ... I added some fresh parsley, too, as one reviewer suggested ... also, I just left the oil out completely, to cut fat/calories ... it came together great without it! Oh, and for those who like a bit of a kick: A shake of cayenne does it nicely! Thanks for the base recipe!

Sugar Cookies

I cannot imagine these being any better! Make sure you space them well, b/c they WILL need room to expand as they bake. Oh, and I made the balls a little bigger than 1" ... probably 1.5" ... and it took about 6 extra minutes for them to cook ... but, whatever, they are WONDERFUL!

Low Fat Buttermilk Ranch Dressing

Too much salt, and a lot of seasoning overall, but I'll try it again w/ the salt and herbs cut back ... the flavor was overpowering, but I think it will be really good when it is scaled back and more subtle ... thanks ... :)
